Thanks very much for that. It did the trick.

Next job: I am trying to get a mac to act as client. I've got the VLC plugin installed on the Intel Mac. If I click on the streaming button on the web page in Safari on the Mac, the server starts streaming, and the VLC screen appears on the mac but no video loads. The plugin isn't quite the same version as the server VLC, so maybe that's it. I am assuming that the use of standard streaming protocols should insulate the application from the underlying computer platform differences.

Try firefox on the mac ?

It works allright on linux with firefox.

Even with firefox there is still a plugin to install, but it will work, you'll have to google a bit for that one.

Don't know if there is a vlc plugin even for safari ??

I installed the plugin for Safari and it didn't work (as per #1051). With your suggestion (#1052), I just tried Firefox and it worked. I didn't do anything, so the plugin installation must have found both Safari and Firefox. Actually, it's called "Web browser plugin for 10.x", no mention of a particular browser. Even weirder, I went back and tried Safari and it works there too! Maybe I just didn't wait long enough. It's really good! Will try it on Ubuntu next, once I have fixed the joining windows domain issues. :D for your help.

any idea's, never got an answer....

I quote my older message here:
Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Hi,

First of all - Thanks for a great piece of software!! Just installed it and had it running in minutes!
I am running the MySQL server on a linux box and the webserver itself is running on a windows workstation in vmware. My Mediaportal pc is not on all day, so my question is, is it possible that when a recording has been scheduled via the webserver, and the Mediaportal pc is not aware of it (yet) because it hasn't been on since the recording has been scheduled, that the webservice on my vmware machine boots up my Mediaportal pc (via wake on lan e.g) ??

    :D

Does someone have or know where to find the sources to web interface ?
I wanted to do some minor changes/improvements (for personal use and eventually to propose a patch) but I tried with svn from google code with no success...

    Ciao,
    marco

I just installed the 1.0.1 release and then tried to reinstall this interface but for some reason the MP installer didn't install the right version of MS SQL because i can't seem to add another user anywhere. Am i missing something really obvious or do i have to reinstall MS SQL. In which case if i do reinstall, will i lose the whole database?
