    Hi,
when resuming videos with very long filenames it looks somewhat ugly (see attached screenshot). ;-)
AFAIR long string resources (texts) are scrolled if they do not fit into a defined area.

    Is this a bug?

    TIA & Regards,
    moh

Thank you moh for reporting! This is a sort of bug that doesn't look very well. The filename is right now just displayed as a plain label control. What I'll do for the next release is to replace the label with a fadelabel that can hold a limited width value.

Havn't used so loooong files before... :D

Thanks for the updates mikael but there are some new bugs i have attached some screenshots.

    1. The bar under the tv preview is wonky and doesnt display how long the show had been playing for.
    2. The bar down bottom is still there.
    3. The time for the start and end of the show is display up the top instead of down the bottom.
    4. The top bar and times need to be moved down.
    5. This is a recorded show and the OSD time display thing is still red and not green.

Beaverfood: thanks for making screenshots of these bugs. At least one or two of them I've noticed for some time, but was never able to take screenshots of for mikael to see.

When you are in MediaPortal and press F11 it will take a screen shot and save it as a .bmp to
    C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Documents\My Pictures\MediaPortal Screenshots\DATE

But i just made mediaportal not start in fullscreen mode and then i just pressed "alt + print screen" button so it only prints the active window and then pasted it into Paint and then saved it as a .jpg.

Thats exactly what I've always done (one or two of the example screenshots at the beginning of this thread are mine), but some of the bugs I experienced would never save to a screenshot, I'd just get a blank screen. Dunno what I was doing wrong if you did exactly the same thing. Either way, thanks again for posting these shots and getting these bugs up there for mikael to see. Now they can be fixed.

Thanks again for another quick update to the .xml's mikael.

I have found some smaller things.

    1. Start time and end time needs to be moved down.
    2. On the basic home screen with my remote i cant move down and select the small video preview to make it full screen. This works fine in other parts of the skin.
3.The rec icon and text over lap some longer character names like "Pictures" and "Setting" i dont know if this matters to much you could move it to the middle im not sure if it will over lap text there but it may look a bit odd but dont know. Also it looks bighter to me now did you change it ? i think i like how it looked before.
Justed looked in the "Media" folder for the skin you have have two images "rec.png"(the brighter one) and "recording_osd.png" (not so bright one). I can always change it to "recording_osd.png" just for my copy of the skin.
    4. I find its a bit hard to read the text of already watched recorded tv shows when im sitting back on the couch. If you dont want to change it could you let me know the line number that i need to change in the xml of the skin on my pc.
    5. Same as other post. Its still displaying red instead of green.

Are there any guides for making or editing MediaPortal skins?
I wouldn't mind learning and it will save me asking mikael to fix things all the time.

    1. Yes, must have messed this up the last time, fixed now.

    2. Thanks for reporting, don't use basic home screen so much... have now also fixed the actions when the first icon to the left is marked and the user presses left and so on with the last icon to the right. You do also know that you can switch between this and fullscreen mode by pressing the red button on the MCE remote?

    3. Yes, it was overlapping. Have now centered the position if the rec icon. It was brighter, I removed the 50% alpha color diffuse in the xml code last time... but now it's back again. The recording_osd.png file is completly different as it also contains a glass border.

    4. I've fixed some other layout issues on this screen (should have been fixed in beta 4). The colors: Open up mytvrecordedtv.xml and change the values of<textcolor2>ffb2d4f5</textcolor2> (line 133) and <textcolor3>cfb2d4f5</textcolor3> (line 134) for the text colors. (These are hex values, first two letters for alpha channel next two for red, next two for green and last two for blue). Please test some values and let me know what you think look best for implenting to the next version. I would recommend trying e.g. 80ffffff and aaffffff to get some more contrast.

    5. Actually I don't know what to do with the red progress bar... I'm a designer, not a coder... The xml code for this progress bar looks the same as BlueTwo's... Help anyone?

Yes there is a WIKI that has basic information about how the Skin Architecture works. I use Adobe Dreamweaver to edit the xml files but Notepad will also do. After editing the xml's, make sure to have the great refresh plugin installed and press F5 directly in MediaPortal to refresh the current page. Just edit, test and undo if needed!

Would be awesome to get some bug hunting help!

Oh yer its still red and i hadnt looked in the recorded tv section the other day.

I have attacted an image of what it looks like. When i change the "Sort by:" option it fixes it then i can just cycle it through the other options and they all will be fine including "Channel".

    Hope that makes sense
