Well haven't installed the new StreamedMP on MP 1.0.2 yet! I have however found that not only does switching to plugins works normal and fast, also marking movies or series as read and other context menu option work a lot faster then with the new MP and StreamedMP. There is most definitely something wrong, my setup is finally running 100% as it should, I'm going to play around a little with this setup to see if there are other things that work better then it does with new MP and StreamedMP. If I don't find anything in a day or two I'll install newest StreamedMP and report back.

You're also using an asrock ion330. I played around with the x-factor skin but it is also slow, especially with opening the music section. You said you used MP v1.0.2 but with only an atom cpu and ion chipset how did you play hd movies well as gpu acceleration it is not supported in v1.0.2?

With the SAF codec pack you get hardware acceleration. I even play Blu-ray's from disc as I have the Blu-ray version of the Asrock ION330. This machine is more then powerful enough to be an HTPC and menu's are just as fast with MP 1.0.2 and StreamedMP 0.8.448 as it was with my AMD X2 4850 and the ATI HD3200. It is smooth responsive and fast. The problem is not with the ION330 but something to do with either StreamedMP's newest version or the new SVN's from MP. That is why I'm doing the tests to see when slow menu's start to pup their ugly heads. :p

So if new StreamedMP on MP 1.0.2 is quick, it is MP, almost for sure, right?

Guys, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be valuable to compile a list of results for different combinations of OS / MP / skins on the Asrock ION 330. I just ordered mine as well, and I can contribute to the effort as soon as I have received the toy...

Thats a good idea, I will update the first post to show the collection of results. If you report a tested combination please use the following format:

    MediaPortal: Version
    Skin: Skin name and version
    Slow Menu's: Yes/No
    Slow Context Menu's: Yes/No
    Slow Marked as Watched: Yes/No
    AVG Switch time: In seconds
Instant CPU Usage on Switch: Yes and % / No avg time in seconds till activity
Average CPU usage on 720p: %
Average CPU usage on 1080p: %
Average CPU usage on browsing (MyTVSeries, Videos, Moving Pictures, ...): %
Anything else you found: Short explenation

Those things are important as I found that those are the differences. I'll update the first post tomorrow with my findings so far.

Got it. I'll do the same as soon as I have setup my machine - should be in a day or two. I'll try to run as many different combinations before moving it in production.

I received my ION and I ran some tests already... Here's a first summary.

    Setup: AS-330, 2GB RAM, Windows 7x64, FFDShow r3097, Haali Media Splitter, CoreAVC w/CUDA 1.9.5

    MediaPortal: 1.1.0 beta rev 23491
    Skin: StreamedMP 0.9.601
    Slow Menu's: Yes
    Slow Context Menu's: Yes
    Slow Marked as Watched: No
    AVG Switch time: 7 seconds
Instant CPU Usage on Switch: 21%
Average CPU usage on 720p: 17%
Average CPU usage on 1080p: 23%
Average CPU usage on browsing (MyTVSeries, Videos, Moving Pictures, ...) : 60%
    Anything else you found: N/A

    MediaPortal: 1.1.0 beta rev 23491
    Skin: Black Glass 1.60
    Slow Menu's: No
    Slow Context Menu's: No
    Slow Marked as Watched: No
    AVG Switch time: 2 seconds
Instant CPU Usage on Switch: 23%
Average CPU usage on 720p: 13%
Average CPU usage on 1080p: 20%
Average CPU usage on browsing (MyTVSeries, Videos, Moving Pictures, ...) : 27%
    Anything else you found: N/A

I'll try more combinations but so far the same MP setup on my E6600@2.4Ghz w/ 4GB, AMD 4850HD runs flawlessly - means instant switch, smooth browsing and playback. So unless I come to other elements, this seems to be a StreamedMP-related issue...

    I'll keep you posted :)

Hey Guys, if you are using the latest MediaPortal 1.1.0 SVN can you please try your tests using the attached Core.dll. Ensure you backup your existing one.

Hopefully will be much faster! Plus I need some extra testing.

Please dont raise any MediaPortal bugs if you are using this patched DLL, this is only for use when testing the slow menus.
