The remote problem is an known issue and is fixed in the newer SVNs, there is also a separate fix you can download. Search the forum and you will find it ;).

I will try to overclock my CPU and see if that make the menu respond faster or not. All problems, except going back to main menu are gone. I hope I don't need to overclock my system as running it @ 51c will harm the unit in the long run. The warmer a machine is, the more likely it will fail some day sooner then on a lower temp. I will experiment to see what differences there are in temperature when standard clocked and overclocked.

I have my graphics card set to use 512Mb of memory. I knew that would give me the best performance as I had experienced trouble on my old HTPC when using 256Mb on a ATI HD3200.

Will play around a little more, to try and see what I can improve on this little machine and report what it takes to make it work better.

    Information request:
I would like to know from other ION330 users what OS they use and if they also have idle CPU usage when you are doing nothing in the main menu of MP. Also report if you use the RSS feeds or other moving plugins please.

    Windows 7 Ultimate N
    Disabled RSS Feed.
MediaPortal: SVN Snapshot 11-06-2009--19-18-Rev24047 - with core.dll fix
    StreamedMP: 0.9.601
    MP_TVSeries: 2.3.3589 (newer)
    Slow Menu's: No
    Slow Context Menu's: No
    Slow Marked as Watched: No
AVG Switch time to Plugin: 5 seconds
AVG Switch time back to Main: 2 seconds
Instant CPU Usage on Switch: 80%
    Idle CPU Usage: 10%
Average CPU usage on 720p: 11%
Average CPU usage on 1080p: 14%
Average CPU usage on browsing (MyTVSeries, Moving Pictures, ...) : 55%
Anything else you found: When I load any plugin my CPU jumps to 100% then 80% for a few seconds. Browsing all 55 shows in filmstrip layout is rather CPU intensive but snappy, average 55%. When I pick my show CPU load jumps to 80% and it is fully displayed in under 2 secs. This time is used to load 1920x1080 background image. I am not using compressed images.

If I try and go back during the initial plugin loading, then my "back" times are much higher. But if I finish a show and press exit 3 times to get to main menu, it is as fast as my thump presses.

    Thank you for testing.

Your idle CPU load is lower then mine, but I use the RSS reader. I will try to disable it and see if my idle CPU load drops. Will post your results in the first post as well, thanks!

Hey Guys, if you are using the latest MediaPortal 1.1.0 SVN can you please try your tests using the attached Core.dll. Ensure you backup your existing one.

Hopefully will be much faster! Plus I need some extra testing.

Please dont raise any MediaPortal bugs if you are using this patched DLL, this is only for use when testing the slow menus.

Tried this out. I know you wanted to know about switching times across the board, but was only able to get Moving Pictures to work.

Moving Pictures did operate as if it was a normal PC. Switching times were responsive and backgrounds trailed icons by less than 2 seconds.

TV Series is giving me issues but I don't think it is DLL releated.

BTW that Core.DLL breaks the Media Portal Config program.

This was under Windows 7 Ultimate N. Zotac 330A Atom Nvidia Ion 4GB Ram Patriot SSD. Overclocked to 2.0Ghz

I have the same issue with the Media Portal Config program crashing withe the fix core.dll

    Anyone got a fix ??

    Thank

You should be using a clean install of MP1.1.0 with the very latest SVN (6th Nov)...otherwise you can run into problems.

Anyway, the fix proves the Slow Menus are fixed so I have removed the test dll so there is no conflicts with newer installs going forward. Hopefully the patch I have done can make it into the MP 1.1.0 RC1.

Can someone please repost the fixed Core.dll! I keep getting slow menus when I'm switching between Picture folders. Sometimes it takes up to 2 minutes(!) and MediaPortal is using 0% CPU.

Is this fix already in SVN? I checked out rev 24102 and compiled it...still no luck!

It will be available in the next public SVN or if you compile r24103.

It sounds like though you have another problem with shares views, you may want to check out this patch: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/.../patch-speed-up-shares-view-71931/#post521749

Hi Dominion, do yo mind removing the core.dll as I dont want people to install it over a newer svn. It will be publicly available for everyone in the next public beta/rc1.
