Re: VC-1 issues (VC1)

I have VC1i playing well using the MPC splitter and the Cyberlink decoder in full bitstream DXVA mode. There is occasional judder but I guess that's because MPC doesn't output perfect timestamps.

The problem is the graph will not build automatically so I had to write a messy routine in MP to build it manually for VC1i. I might possibly try and tidy this up so it could be added to 1.3.0 as an 'unsupported' feature. I can't promise anything though and there's likely to be many setups where it won't work.

But if you disable DxVA in PDVD decoder, PDVD decoder won't connect to MPC splitter.
I would like to see if somebody can build MPC splitter with modified output for VC-1 - to support PDVD decoder like LAVFsplitter have.

domb:

Did you try to play VC-1i in m2ts in Graphstudio?

Fine with haali, same results as I said before with gabest.

I can't play ANY (p/i) blu-ray back with VC-1 smoothly using ANY decoder EXCEPT ffdshow DXVA (progressive) when using Gabests MPEG Splitter from MPC.

I've come to the conclusion whatever the problem is, its gabests MPEG splitter.

MKV with haali splitter and Microsoft/Arcsoft and VC-1 i/p is absolutely fine.
m2ts with Gabests MPEG Splitter and Microsoft/Arcsoft decoder for VC-1 i/p nothing works properly.

my opinion is actually there isn't any splitter that can connect to any codec that can decode vc-1i via dxva......

if someone can find a way to play in MP vc1i by DXVA, he is very welcome :) thank you

Remux the mt2s to mkv and use Arcsoft decoder and you'll have lovely smooth VC-1i/p playback, although not sure if it uses DXVA. Its the hell of a lot better than Microsoft DMO. I did have a problem with it starting to skip after a few minutes though which Microsoft DMO doesn't.

The only problem I have is with m2ts ie blu-ray

i have doubts you could play that with vc-1i and dxva Working, may i ask you to post a screenshot of graphstudio and render window to be sure you are using dxva ? ;)

Sure if I remember I'll get a screenshot. I did say I'm not sure if its using DXVA, I doubt Microsoft DMO is. What I said was that Arcsoft is perfectly smooth playing back VC-1i from an MKV container.

Under windows XP you can get VC-1i with DXVA with Gabest splitters and PDVD codec.

    Under 7 no.

I am talking regarding VC-1i within MP cause with MPC-HC you can get it working under 7 too.

    Re: VC-1 issues (VC1)

Gabest splitter will output {31435657-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71} for VC-1 and it will do so under XP or 7.

{31435657-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71} is the universal GUID for VC-1 and Microsoft DMO Video decoder will accept this GUID and connect to it with no tweaking.

Cyberlink video decoder on the other hand will not connect cause Cyberlink video decoder expects the GUID {D979F77B-DBEA-4BF6-9E6D-1D7E57FBAD53} as this is the one the Cyberlink Demux outputs for VC-1.

Now we come to the OS part.

Under windows XP you are able to block Microsoft DMO Video Decoder and set the Cyberlink Video Decoder merit to HIGH this as a result will force the Cyberlink Video Decoder to connect although the GUID is still {31435657-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}.

For anyone interested on how to do it under windows XP take a look here

Under windows 7 this trick doesn't work, don't ask me why, but if i had to guess i would say that 7 will try to bypass any other codec when it sees the GUID {31435657-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71} and will always try to use the Microsoft DMO Video Decoder.

Now we come to the MPC-HC part.

Under MPC-HC you can still trick the OS (XP or 7) since you can add the GUID {31435657-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71} to the video decoder itself. This way you can make sure that the PDVD codec is used and OS GUID "verification" is bypassed.

Unfortunately you cannot do the same with MP.

So i hope i answered you question and unless you show me the way to play VC-1i with DXVA under windows 7 i consider my previous statement
    Under 7 no.
    correct.

    Re: VC-1 issues (VC1)

    Kotik:
You can if you use LAVF as splitter, but with broken timestamps.

MPC MPEG splitter output WVC1 as {31435657-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71} - this won't connect automatically with PDVD decoder
LAVF as {D979F77B-DBEA-4BF6-9E6D-1D7E57FBAD53} - this automatically connect with PDVD decoder.

Can somebody compile MPC mpeg splitter that will output WVC1 as {D979F77B-DBEA-4BF6-9E6D-1D7E57FBAD53}?
