StreamedMP-1.5.2.2700 problem

Hi,

I am having an issue starting MediaPortal after applying StreamedMP-1.5.2.2700. When MediaPortal comes to display the BasicHome Screen, it just becomes totally transparent and shows the Desktop and you have to kill it from Task Manager. I have MediaPortal v1.2.0.0 Alpha and originally had StreamedMP-1.4.12.2620, which was working fine.

I did a full uninstall and even confirmed that StreamedMP folder was removed from "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Skin". I re-installed StreamedMP-1.5.2.2700, but with same result. Now even when re-installing StreamedMP-1.4.12.2620 I am having the same issue

This is old and painful problem that we have never be able to find a definitive answer to, it seems to be linked texture memory and always errors while caching the fonts. Some people have solved it but updating gfx card drivers, DX and even just plain poweroff and restarts.

Since the last release we have not changed the fonts but have tweaked a couple of textures and added the Hi-Def 3D backdrops (suspect you may have been using already).

All I can suggest at this point is to search the StreamedMP forum as there are a few threads that deal with issue and also what solved it for some.

I know that swapping out the fonts with std windows ones will solve the problem but does not do much for the look. Also installing Purevision HD after StreamedMP can cause issues as it uses the same fonts but older versions...will not show up till MP needs to rebuild the cache.

We have never seen the problem on the teams systems and hence no chance to try and find the cause.

Sorry for not providing a more positive answer.

Took your advise and it seems that the issue is really related to the Fluid fonts. Removed from system and found an old fonts.xml from one of your old posts which was using Arial. When I replaced, MediaPortal with StreamedMP 1.5.2.2700 started fine.




Apart from above, after removing the fluid fonts from windows, a couple of restarts and re-copying back the Fluid fonts used by StreamedMP, managed to get it working with original fonts

Hi TheBatfink,

The obly reason this would happen is if MediaPortal has not fully shutdown, though it should time out 2mins.

As Damien says best to try a manual update and see if there are any problems.

Sorry for the late response. Not sure why it wasnt working, it just hung at the end. I have definately succesfully used the downloader within mediaportal before a couple of times.

I downloaded the manual patcher and it installed fine without any problems.

Will see what its like with new releases.

Hi,

I was wondering if you could answer a question for me? I noticed on the StreamedMP download section they always have the main update (146MB) for example then a small patch (8MB) for the same version. Am i supposed to run the patch before the main update or after. From what i the patch stops some services running to enable the update to work ok.

What should i do?

The main package, is standalone. The Patch is only to upgrade a compatible release e.g. The SMPpatch-r3031.exe patch can be applied to StreamedMP v1.7.1-1.7.3 to make it v1.7.4.

So you dont need both, but you can use either one for upgrading. If your release supports the patch upgrade, you will get a patch notification in GUI.

hi to all...

since i updated the skin to the latest version yesterday i am also getting strange errors. cant post a screenshot now cause it didnt happen since i came home.
but the errors look like the one D3ltoroxp gets.
mp is not crashing when the error happens.....and when i push the continue button everything keeps running fine.

think its a skin error cause everythiong was ok tilli updated.
