Stutter after refresh rate change (2 Viewers)

Could someone (a developer) try to insert a small delay between setting the new refresh rate and starting the playback.
Have seen this kind of problem with Windows 7 Media Center and a script I used to have the refresh rate set to match the frame rate. By using a delay of a couple of seconds between refresh rate change and playback start I never saw the stutter problem again...

    I'll provide a test build for you later this week with some delays. Just for testing if it's a general Windows related issue...

    sorry for OT, but can you tell us(me) how you realize refreshrate change under W7 Media Center? i really would like to have that feature.

    Ok, can now confirm that the stutter I see in 50hz (25 fps material) also happens with AVI/mkv's at 25 fps.

    I seldomly watch 25 fps avi-mkv material - but yesterday I did :)

    I now see stuttering when:

    * Watching PAL TV (25 fps interlaced) @ 50hz
    * Watching avi/mkv (25 fps) @ 50hz

    So it doesnt look like its a hardware deinterlacing driver problem.

    Ofcourse for the stuttering to even occur I have to first start some 24/23.976 clip which changes the RR to 24hz and back again to 50hz when starting TV etc.

    I can reproduce this problem too, by watching for instance a 24fps movie switching to 24hz and then watching 25fps TV at 50hz -> tv orribly stutters and many frames are dropped. Exiting and reentering mediaportal does not fix the problem to me. I switch using 12noon and not internal mediaportal refresh rate changer.

    If closing the mediaportal wont solve the stuttering issue, then it sounds like you have a different cause for the stuttering. Sounds like even a driver issue (where refresh rate fails to change).

    I'm pretty sure the refresh rate changes (I can see it in TV info properties)... I will look into drivers (cannot update to 9.11 since it seems to break dxva, will try to downgrade to 9.9).

    Here's a core.dll with a Thread.Sleep(3000) added after a refresh rate change for you to test based on the latest SVN.

    Edit: delay after refresh rate change didn't make a difference. Patch removed.

    i noticed when i change 25hz movies to play at 25 hz. then when playing a 25 hz movie with default refreshrate = 50 hz it always stutters. (i tried more then 10 times.)
    this is different themn playing a 24 hz movie because these only stutter occasionaly.

    with default refreshrate = 24 hz and then playing a 25 hz movie it causes no stutter.

    Can you try this dshowhelper.dll build and let me know if it's better, worse or the same?

    I made some small adjustment in hope to narrow the source of the problem down. I still can't reproduce it, so I need your help with testing here.

    Also does ff/rew solve the problem the same way Alt+Tab does?

    Edit: Patch removed as it doesn't solve the problem.
