Stuttering During Fast Motion (1 Viewer)

I run SAF version 4. Not sure if it would make any difference but as you are focusing on codecs it would potential change that might help you sort out if it was codec related.

Hi All,

Been struggling to get near the Media Centre as my wife has been watching her recordings (which beats when I first put it in and the initial teething problems .... like missed recordings ..... )

Anyway, in the mentime I have been researching threads on stuttering and saw a comment about multiple screen settings with Catalyst Control Cenre and issues around this, so I disabled the 14 inch Phillips monitor and I think it has improved the stuttering. Using Shift 1, I cannot see any improvement in the dropped frames however.

Has anybody experianced the same thing on their HTPC's? Do multiple screens activated in CCC effect stuttering?

had to do about 6 rebuilds but found that CCC was causing the problems - even if it is uninstalled.
So I used the following

Downloaded and Installed 8.6 Vista ATI Drivers - Do Not install the CCC - Video drivers Only
Downloaded and Installed VistaCodecs_v468

This was last year - there may be later versions.

Hi,

I have attached a clip from one of my daughters shows which is a carton to demonstrate some of the stuttering I'm talking about.

Would be grateful if someone could play it and let me know whether they have the same issues. It's just on fast movement where I get the trailing image.

If you are using SAF - can you try to play your sample using Graphstudio and report result? START-SAF-Tools-GraphStudio.

Playing fine here for me - but no sound (?)

Plays OK for me too (although it's almost too short to really tell if there is any stutter).

You were talking about stuttering, but now you say there are trailing images - these are two different things, so which is actually the problem ?

I don't have SAF loaded yet - I need to get access to the PC and some dedicated quiet time!! I have also noticed a good improvement since disabling the 14 inch PC screen that was cloned with the Samsung TV.

The problem is more trailing images during fast motion that I described as "stutter". Perhaps stutter was not a good description. When the picture is still, it's perfect - it's just during movement. Now and again the picture stall's - usually during disk activity for whatever reason e.g. if I'm copying file off or on to the machine while playing live TV or recorded TV. Is there a fix for the "trailing images" I'm talking about or a usual problem that cuases this (as opposed to stutter)
