Thanks for posting the dll, I'll try that. I can use my BartPE CD to directly access the file system and replace the DLL safely. As soon as I have some time I'll try, and see if it makes a difference.

Here is my quartz.dll story :

    • I had quartz.dll (6.05.2600.2749)
    • I tried to replace with kb919071's quartz.dll (6.05.2600.2905) but couldn't make it work in Windows XP Pro SP2 French
    • And now I'm satisfied with an older version of the file downloaded from the Internet : quartz.dll (6.05.01.0902)

Mine runs Direct X 9.0c, Its actually stopped stuttering tonight, Ive think I found out why. It seems when its first turned on the DVB EPG is downloading, which is taking some of the bandwidth up, causing a slight stutter. After a while the stuttering goes away..so no problems from here tonight.

I was a little too happy too soon. It still gets caught in a stuttery mode at the and of the timeshift buffer. Reversing in the buffer plays the same sequense again without any stutter. It's just as iamfrank describes it. The problem is more severe on some channels and it's varying over time as well.

I've now tried the quartz.dll as well, but it doesn't seem to affect the stuttering. It might have had some positive effect on audio/video sync, but I have to do some more testing to confirm that.

I was having the same problem, moving a bit backward and then playing from there fixed the problem in the same place were before it was stuttering. My HTPC is a 100% dedicated computer, there isn't anything else running here besides occasionally playing the only game that it has: Simpsons Hit & Run :) It's old but I'm determined to complete it! :D

I've just installed the latest SVN, the first from Jan 31, 2007, I'll see how it does in the next days.

I think I have success in eliminating my stutter problem....

I reverted to an earlier nforce driver 84.21 (as diehard2 suggested), which immediately caused some problems with my nvidia purevideo decoder (the output was vertically interlaced and looked all funny), so I changed the codecs to MPV/MPA (which I had tested before, with stutter of course), but this time it was all gone!!! Previously I had always had 1-3 frames lost each time I turned on tv and got a bunch when stutter began, I also had jitter of 4-10. The lost frame-count is now nil and jitter is down to 0-1.

So the solution for me was:
    nForce 84.21 + MPV/MPA codecs

    Kind regards
    Martin

Those are the ones I'm on. I would recommend them in conjunction with the NVIDIA decoder.

    oh no... it's back

I think I just was in a quiet non-stuttering period, the stuttering is back and is exactly as bad as previous... Can't seem to find any good explanation for this. There doesn't seem to be any other process that stalls the system.

The stuttering is only during playback, it isn't in the buffered/recorded data, same symptom as you have igalan. When going back a bit and playing over the position where the stuttering happened its gone.

    Kind regards
    Martin
