I am not exactly sure what you are trying to do. It is pretty easy to setup something like this though:
HD Movies
- Unwatched
- Genres
- Year
SD Movies
-Unwatched

- Year

You're right this is easy to do. The problem is I was trying to add rule to the top level category
For example
- HD Movies
- SD Movies

...
...

This was originally planned for 1.0 but it got pushed back so we could do an earlier release. It is currently planned for 1.2.
