TV channel numbers (1 Viewer)

Hi,
TV channel numbers are incorrect for me (e.g, BBC One HD is 66 instead of 101, 4Seven is 48 instead of 47). Can these be changed and why isn't it just correct in the first place?

It is controlled by a configuration option in "MediaPortal Configuration"; see this page in the Wiki:

The option that controls this is "Select channel by index". If you deselect that option, you should be able to select channels by the normal channel number (e.g. 101 for "BBC1 HD").

Thanks very much, is as expected now. Like many things I've noticed with new MP journey, even basic things require configuring, doesn't work how you would expect out of the box. Anyway, happy now!

Like many things I've noticed with new MP journey, even basic things require configuring, doesn't work how you would expect out of the box.

MediaPortal is used all over the world, and there are significant differences between the TV systems that MediaPortal has to deal with. This makes MP more complicated than would be the case for software intended exclusively for the UK.

For example, the "logical channel number" (e.g. 101 for "BBC1 HD") is transmitted as part of the broadcast signals in the UK, but there are some parts of the world where that information is not available.

Thanks CyberSimian, Windows Media Center is also used all over the world and it was much easier (maybe not for other parts of the world then).
Anyway, I've now upgraded to Windows 10 so am fully committed to MP now!
