Please can you help.

    Hello and welcome Jon :)

It looks like the installer doesn't think you want it to install TV Server.
What options did you select during installation?

Hi, I thought I had selected the defaults to include the option to watch live TV. Is it best to try again and upload some fresh logs?

Hi, I thought I had selected the defaults to include the option to watch live TV.
Hmmm, this doesn't really answer my question, so I'm not sure how to respond.

I guess I can say that this is the critical option for installation of TV Server:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...staller_(Deploy_Tool)/0_Select_Options#Use_TV

You must select "yes" there if you want TV Server to be installed. If you do an advanced installation, also make sure you select the appropriate option here:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...Deploy_Tool)/2_Advanced_Installation#TV_Setup

Is it best to try again and upload some fresh logs?
You're welcome to uninstall and try to reinstall. More helpful than log files would be a screenshot of what you're looking at that has caused you to say "TV Server fails to start". Remember to run the installer with administrative privileges (right click, run as admin).

P.S. In rare cases some security software can also block installation in unusual ways. Might need to consider that possibility if reinstallation attempts continue to fail.

An exception is raised, once I click OK the installer completes. The error is in the application event log. Happy to send a screen dump also. Will also ensure admin privileges and can switch off security software next time.....

Hi, I have done a complete uninstall and have then re-installed as follows:

    Switched off security on-access scanning
    Switched off firewall
Right click MediaPortalSetup_1.12.0_Final.exe run as admin
    Selected English (United States)
Selected Start with the installation now
Selected Yes-I will use MediaPortal to watch TV
Selected Perform a One Click Installation
    Selected Install LAV Filters

    Summary page actions
    Install MediaPortal 1.12.0
    Install MediaPortal TV-Server 1.12.0
    Install MediaPortal TV-Plugin 1.12.0

Screen dump error - see attached file
    Click OK
    Install completes
    Select Exit

Switch on firewall and on-access scanning

Run MediaPortal Watchdog and collect the logs - I have to run MediaPortal Configuration once to make this work.

Selected Export all currently present logs
    Selected Proceed

Please see attached the error (screen dump) during installation. I think this is because TV server did not start. Please see in the EventLog - all the logs from Watchdog.

    Please can you help further.
    Many thanks.

Thanks for the hint about the application event log. I see what you're up against now.

It appears the problem stems from an error condition that occurs during tuner detection. Specifically: I think the problem may be happening during detection of your TBS 6280 tuners.

Can you please try to temporarily disable the TBS card in Windows device manager, reboot the PC, and try to reinstall again. If that doesn't work, please post fresh log files so I can check if the error has changed. Hopefully it will work, because if not, it could be difficult to figure out what is going wrong...

Hi, I did what was asked and TV server starts and the install completes.
I wasn't sure at what point to enable the TBS card?? Anyway with the card disabled starting TV server configuration the cards can't be seen which is what I expected.
Enabling the TBS card driver and restarting TV server fails as before.
I have attached the logs as requested.
    Any further thoughts please?
    Many thanks.

Fantastic! That's a relief... at least to me. :)

    Correct, that's expected.

Good, so that confirms the problem is definitely related to the TBS card.

I have attached the logs as requested.
    Any further thoughts please?
Are you sure your card is a 6280 and not a 6281?
Has the card previously been working in other software? (ie. do you know that the card works)
Have you installed the latest drivers from the TBS website?

In general this is appears to be a TBS driver problem. As such, you may need to get support from TBS rather than me.

Hi, yes sure its a 6280. I have just downloaded the latest drivers from the TBS website and installed just in case ....
The PC is about 2 years old and have been using the card with Windows Media Centre. I want to upgrade to Win10 and hence want to get up to speed with MediaPortal first.
Any reason why WMC is able to see the card/ tuners and not MediaPortal??
    Grateful for your assistance.
    Jon

So, you're power cycling the TV, but not putting the PC to sleep ? In General => Startup/Resume settings, try checking "Ignore Windows resolution/size changes" In Codecs and Render, try selecting the specific audio device rather than "Default DirectSound device" Just ideas, no guarantee this will do anything. If this doesn't work, I...
