Re: AW: Re: tvservice dying very often

Have my logs revealed anything ? See post #11.

    cheers

No, your logs show nothing related to the TT CI menu fix.

    2 suspects:
    - DVB EPG grabber (idle+timeshift)
    - network connection issues (do you use WLAN?)

    Thanks for looking morpheus...
    - I do not use DVB EPG Grabber
    - I do not use WLAN

However, the last couple of days all has been ok... Very strange...

    Ok.. I spoke too soon...
Here are my latest server logs just after the crash.

Problem is that the TVService locks up and cannot be stopped. When trying to stop it manually, it hangs in the "STOPPING' state..
Again, the only option is to restart the entire server.

Logs attached ( take a look at "error'log" .. There is something at the very top of the log that looks to be an error.

Hope you can help.. the WAF is dropping fast ... :(

I looked into tvserver code part, we have a "lock(this)" there.

For a test, I removed this lock.

Can you try this tvserver.exe? Please do some "stress testing", if possible with multiple clients.

    AW: tvservice dying very often

Hi morpheus, I have an issue, that is related to the title (that's how I found this thread), but different cause than discussed so far:
When the recording folder/volume has no space left, tvservice crashes too - see attached error.log.
Wouldn't it be better, if tvservice could stop recording and still service live tv ?

    ok... I'm home.

What do i do with TvService.pdb file ??

    cheers

***EDIT*** I have replaced the TvService.exe file and maybe it's my immagination but channel change time has reduced.

Anyway, if it crashes again we will know soon enough. I will post logs if it happens.

    cheers

I have also been having some problems with TVService dying. I have also substituted the TVService (NoLock on Tune) file for test only and my whole TV setup is so much quicker on channel change, perhaps in the region of 5-6 seconds. Easily changes between BBC HD and others ( and back again) without a 15 second delay. It also seems to react quicker on start up; when MP RC1 was first started it appeared to lock up for a good 30 secs with HDD indicator staying on all the time, then after this time has elapsed MP became usable once more.

I'll report back if I have any more lock ups where I have to reboot fully.

For me this tvservice.exe seems to run much faster and much more stable as the original one. I did stress test for one hour with three clients and so far its looks fantastic. With this one I've the same "fast" channel change as before (1.02).

    If i found a problem (hopefully not ;-) ) I'll report.

morpheus_xx! Man, you make my day. Thinking about going back to 1.02 since days ... no it works like it should.
