Same problem here! It's very frustrating!
I have klite codec pack installed. I have tried to reinstall media portal, but no success either... I can't understande why some files with the exactly same codecs info by Gspot play fine and other don't!
Can anyone help please?

is koepi's xvid installed, even in ffdshows video setting i have xvid set as the codec for the above formats.
If you want system wide support, then uninstall any codecs and install the Vista codec pack (ignore name), you may have to change under avi setting to use gabest splitter, this either means you have corrupt files or your MS splitter is foobar.

If using subtitles, then grab mkvtoolnix, run mkvmerge and add the subtitles to the video\audio, now see if the created mkv file plays correctly.

I don't think so, because MP has no way of knowing at which timestamp the external player stopped playback.
Best way to achieve this would be to use an auto-resume feature in your external player itself. (MPC-HC can do that, I don't know about VLC)

After some time working seamlessly....have run into a brick wall with this!
Have tried switching from MadVr to EVR....and problem...
.....it was also the culprit for me!!! Can't think why I've changed from LAVsplitter to MPurl ......:oops:

Just upgraded to 1.37 'Willow'.....and although TV is fine.....I'm unable to play video.
