If MP had UPnP capabilities does that mean it would work with other htpc software, Mythtv for example?? That way users could choose their favorite backend and favorite frontend and mix and match!!
UPnP, if I am correct, is simpy a easy way of navigating around networks without having to open ports etc.
UPnP is designed to simplify the way software and devices communicate with eachother over a network.
There is, however, a UPnP AV standard which is designed to allow these devices to share/stream media to one another - which is what I guess your post is about. Im not too sure of the technical issues here though.

Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this.
