I belive you want MP to control your STB? This is done with blasters and the MyBlaster-plugin.
For just viewing whatever is showing on the blaster, you most probably wanna connect the STB to a s-video (or (god forbidd) compositt) on your TV-card.
In setup; choose "Add CVBS/SVHS" and edit it to meet your settings.
There is no good way of importing RGB/SCART atm. UNFORTUNATLY!
Hey,
I do exactly what you are after with my Hauppuage PVR-150 and a Sky STB. From memory, when adding channels in the TV part of MediaPortal Setup, there is a button in amongst the tuner channel buttons somewhere that says something like 'CVBS/SVHS'. This adds a channel to MP with its input coming from your S-Video or Composite input port instead of the TV tuner. You can then call this channel whatever you like (say '1') and have MP set on this the whole time, so you never actually use the TV tuner on your capture card at all.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Brett
Forgot to add: there should be no 'editing of settings' required when you add a SVHS/CVBS input like this, other than specifying whether the input is via the S-Video port or the Composite port. Again, this is all part of the standard setup screens in MediaPortal Setup.
Thanx all, the SVHS/CVBS thing did the trick I'm quite happy just changing channels with my STB remote,
The reason I'm doing it this way is because I used the autotune function and it found about 30 channels, all crap quality but now I at least have reasonable quality video
Interesting. :coffee:
I always have DVB subtitles enabled in "MP Config", but I actually switch on subtitles only for those films that have deafening sound effects and music, combined with inaudible dialogue. I have never noticed the problem that you have described, but I also use the EVR renderer, and not the Madvr renderer. So...

Every so often, when I switch to a TV channel, my MP client stops accepting user inputs, either from the remote or keyboard/mouse...
@CyberSimian Sorry, I missed your last post. I ended up doing a clean install on the client and all is well now. It still doesn't let me go back in time when I change channels but it does continue operating from that point on. I'm ok with that. Thanks for your help!
EDIT: I now downgraded the server (as I did with the client above)...

I'm downsizing my big honkin' HTPC case to a mini PC, which means the tried and true Hauppauge Colossus card that bridges the set top box into Mediaportal needs replaced with a different solution.
I currently have HDMI from the STB to the colossus. Mediaportal is controlling the STB through a USBUIRT blaster and the blaster is...

So, you're power cycling the TV, but not putting the PC to sleep ?
In General => Startup/Resume settings, try checking "Ignore Windows resolution/size changes"
In Codecs and Render, try selecting the specific audio device rather than "Default DirectSound device"
Just ideas, no guarantee this will do anything.
If this doesn't work, I...
