Re: AW: Video and sound syncronisation

It seems morpheus has found the wrong frames flashing problem.

Please test the latest version from dev branch. The problem seems to be fixed.

    Hi,

About frame flickering and sound sync, it looks ok, but I still have stuttering problems on HDTV (my TS example file) : the picture freezes for a few ms from time to time, giving the video a chobbed aspect. I would say it's about every 250ms, but i'm not certain, so take this time carrefully please.

My MKV is ok, even with subtitles enabled (well for the moment :p)

Morpheus, you're doing an amazing job ! :D

    Hi everybody,

sorry for not getting back earlier, but real live has eaten me up...

I'm not quite sure where we stand, so I just compiled the current dev-branch and tested. Result is, on my laptop (specs see my post above) there is absolutely no more stuttering and no more flickering. Perfect.

However, when I test the same videos on my htpc (much more power, AMD 5450, Intel Core i5, 8GB Ram, Crucial C300 SSD as system drive, etc.), stuttering is worse than before. I'm not quite sure how I can help here. Could someone please give me a hint what you guys need? Compile evr-bracht and post pics of rendering stats, whatever...

And btw (sorry for ot): There seem to be some more problems with current dev-branch: Can't add shares anymore (I see drive D: but when I click on it, no directories are shown), stopping a video sometimes shows the wait-curser, but MP2-Client doesn't react anymore. Are these known problems caused by some bigger changes or do you need detailed bug reports with logs, etc.

Thanks for your hard work - in particular Morpheus, Albert and Smeulf! It's much appreciated and I'm trying to help as much as time permits...

Hi Michael, happily, you can find some time for us :)

About the problems you mention, I wonder if the dev branch you build is up to date. The problem about tree view should be fixed since monday (but I just checked, it's broken again...). Can you please try the build I posted in a previous thread ? This build should be ok about the problem on this specific thread. We're currently interested about tests of that specific build.

You should not have to try the evr or RenderStats branches because they don't solve the actual problem about the video player.

Also, it's known that for the moment the current state of dev branch can cause problems after you stop a video : it stays on the buzy cursor. We will check that during the next week. PIP should also work correctly.

Be aware that the dev branch is not the stable one, so of course you can find many bugs in it. Once merged on Master, it will mean it should be stable ;)

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers.

    Smeulf.

    Hi Smeulf,
Will Test with your Build above tomorrow. Thanks for clarification, just wanted to make sure you are aware of the treeview Bug and the stop-playback Bug.
    Cheers,
    Michael

    Hi Smeulf,

just tested with your test build above. On my laptop it's perfect, but on my htpc I still get stuttering. Just as if it displays an old frame sometimes. But I don't see the flickering anymore (i.e. the black frame that was sometimes displayed before). Could this be related to the ATI 5450? I'm using Catalyst 11.3. Does it make sense to test a newer version?

Video was the same as in my post some pages back
    Specs of the htpc are:
Asus mATX Board with 8GB Ram
    Core i5
    AMD 5450 with Catalyst 11.3
    Crucial C300 as system drive
    WD 2TB as data drive
    Win7 x64 Ultimate - all patches applied

Logs attached, let me know what else you need! This build doesn't have the shift-1 display, is this correct?

    Michael

    AW: Video and sound syncronisation

I have added a newer testbuild here https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/811847-post71.html

The results of the changes in DEV branch:
    HTPC:
    - very good playback of SD (single + PiP)
    - PiP of 720p is too much here, causes a/v drifts (gpu seems to be too week for handling 2 of this videos)

    Dev PC:
    - better than before, but I still get some small issues. I think it is the same as MJGraf described above

The results on DevPC lead to a new testbuild...

    Laptop:
Slightly worse than VideoTestBuild-2011-11-25.7z. Small jittering now and then. Perhaps once every 2 seconds or so.
Its playing better with OSD on than without. That would mean less jittering. (again 720p is being tested).

Edit: SD jitters the same way discribed above.
