What effect does the 'skip' check-box in the video views have? (1 Viewer)

I guess it should do the same as in music views: to skip a level if there is only a single entry.
But it seems to be broken (at least with user group as selection; I haven't tested anything else...)

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ?
MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
