As far as I can tell, we are only able to record in .TS format.

Is there a place where we can change that?

Hi :)

Only ts is supported now.

Oh well. I suppose thats ok. But what about quality settings?

Can we adjust the "quality vs. file size" of a recording anywhere? Some of the things I've been recording dont require High quality that uses up 2 GB of disk space. Others do.

If this option isn't available, it ought to be on the to-do list.

It seems you are saying that MP doesn't do any compression, but instead just writes the stream to the drive directly.
So can someone explain why the video quality of my 1 hour long , 2GB files is very grainy? and yet when I record similar programs using Meedio, the picture is far nicer.

I am using MPC-Home Cinema to play them back.

In that case I would assume you are using analog tv. With digital tv there won't be any difference in quality, no matter what application is used (unless transcoding is done).

I think there is some settings for analog that allow you to chose the quality used in recordings (sorry, haven't ever used analog personaly).

    Yes, it was analog.

After a lot of fiddling, I foundout that my analog Video Source was set to SVHS. After switching to CVBS the graininess disappeared. so all is good! :)

Thank you so much for your help

Sidenote: SVHS (s-video) is superior to CVBS (composite).
For some analogue cards, you can set the quality manually in TV server, which helps a lot on PQ :)thx: misterd).

I have recently installed MediaPortal 1.37 (x64) and MP-TVSeries v4.5.1.697 and unfortunately the TV episode runtime duration is missing in my Titan skin. This only applies to my .TS files, my .MKV files are OK. I believe the difference is likely to be because .MKV files embed the runtime in the file unlike .TS files. I have done...

Are different people taking turns watching the same thing on the same HTPC? For me, separating users in MP2 is a drawback, as is the interface. Simply put, this can't be done in MP1, or rather, it can't be done quickly, because everything would have to be rewritten. But if each user logs in with their own Windows account, MP1 can...
