Hi Ricky,
The built in Movie Database works quite well. Just go to configuration - movies - movie database, select your folders then scan.
After that, to get it to show in MP movies section, you need to change your view to Titles instead of shares.

If you have your movies in multiple formats (.mkv .avi vob etc), it might be easier to catalog them into Ant movie catalog and then use the movies plugin in MP

maybe setting loglevel to debug might pinpoint the difference between normal and stuck?

also try to see if anything is happening during stuck for the mediaportal process(resource monitor, disk activity, cpu usage, anything)
