I have Installed Windows 8 Enterprise x64. Everything runs very well except playing DVDs/Isos. As I understand Microsoft has removed DVD playing from Windows 8 if you do not install the Media Center edition. As I want to keep my installation as clean as possible I do not want to install Media Center edition. Anybody having any idea how to play iso files in Windows 8 and Mediaportal?
The iso is mounted correct using Deamontools but nothing happens.

I guess you need a DVD navigator. Try to install the Cyberlink DVD Navigator. It should work with MediaPortal.

Now I have installed Cyberlink PowerDVD 12. I can play DVDs from the dvd drive as well as when they are mounted as a virtual drive. When mounted as a virtual drive using DeamonTools and autoplay is set to true I can start a ISO-file from Mediaportal. The problem is that the PowerDVD application is started an the ISO is shown outside Mediaportal. I can not see any sign in Mediaportal configuration of PowerDVD. The Navigator box is still disabled and shows "DVD Navigator".

What shall I do to get the PowerDVD show up in Mediaportal config and have Mediaportal use that navigator?

Manual registration of the navigator (CLNavX.ax) should help.

Manual registration of the navigator (CLNavX.ax) should help.

I have tried that with no luck.

I copied the file to C:\Windows\System32.
Then I wrote "c:\Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe c:\Windows\System32\CLNavX.ax" in a command promt started as administrator and got the error:

"The module "c:\Windows\System32\CLNavX.ax" failed to load.
Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.
The specified moudule could not be found."

I have also tried to specify the path where the CLNavX.ax file is actually located but I get the same error.
I have also tried to put it in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and call the regsvr32 program in that directory with the same error.

    Any idea what to do?

    This should work! -> https://msmvps.com/blogs/chrisl/pages/12013.aspx

    Registering A Filter
    1. Locate the .AX file in question. Most of the time these are stored in C:\Windows\System32 or in C:\Program Files\\.
    2. Goto Start>>Run>>Type regsvr32.exe "C:\Location\of the\ax file\filter.ax - Then Hit Enter
    3. It should say it succeeded, if not you likely name to change the path so it is correct.
