MCE peferred: In the same GB-PVR forum, there is a utility called MceEpg2XmlTv that I wrote that does download/exports the EPG from MCE.
Oh wow really? wounder how good that would work :D

Bump! anyone figure a work around yet? I've been using Vista's MCE and as much as I love it I miss MP's TV series plugin though I do switch back and forth using MCE for TV/recording and MP for TV series etc.. it really does suck Zap2it is stopping their free service :(

I'll have a new version posted in the next couple of days. Just working out some minor bugs. The utility exports the EPG to an XMLTv compliant file so importing it to MP should be simple.

Are you running it on Vista by chance? If so, are you trying to save the file in a system directory?

If not, redirect the output to a log file and post it. (add " > log.txt" to the end of the command).

BTW: I am working on a new version of YahooXMLTv that will process much faster.

For those who want to try the MCE grabber:

http://www.epgtools.com/gb_devs/Grabbers/MceEpg2XmlTv/Setup-20070827.02.zip

The GUI is not designed for use with MediaPortal. You are warned :)

MceEpgDownloader
Current Version: 1.0.0.6

This will force MCE to download and use the specified headend ID.

Usage:
MceEpgDownloader.exe list-headends will list your available lineups and their headend IDs.
MceEpgDownloader.exe [HeadendId] will download the specified headend. Replace "[HeadendId]" with the headend ID you want.
MceEpgDownloader.exe reload-prefs will download the latest atscchannels.xml and reload *prefs.xml files. Relevant to HDHomeRun/MCE users only.

MceEpg2XmlTv
Current Version: 1.0.1.0

This will export your current epg into an XMLTv compliant file with the headend id as the filename. It will NOT perform a download, only a conversion. It will NOT affect the operation of Media Center.

Usage:
Create a folder inside the Configs folder with the name of your choice. Place the config.ini, include.txt, exclude.txt and renumber.txt you want to use inside the folder you just created. See the Config\Samples folder for explanations of the files. All default settings are hardcoded and not required to be specifed.

Example:
MceEpg2XmlTv config=MyConfig will look for files in the Configs\MyConfig folder. If this option is not used, "Config\Default" will be checked.

All config.ini options can be used as command line options. Command line options override config settings.

Additional command line options:
include= -- The include file to use. If the file is not in the app folder, you can use a path.
exclude= -- The excludefile to use. If the file is not in the app folder, you can use a path.
renumber= -- The include file to use. If the file is not in the app folder, you can use a path.
showprogress -- Cannot be used if logging the output to a file.

Edit the Common\ChannelList.txt file to add icon url's for channels. The format is "callsign, url". Use one entry per line.

Ratings icons should be place in the Common\RatinsIcons folder. Icon files should be named the same as the rating with a ".gif" extention. There is nothing that uses the rating icons currently that I am aware of but that may change. Included in the zip file are the VCHIP icons.

A log will be output to the screen. If you want to log to a file, simply append " > logfile.txt" to the end of the command/options (without quotes).

does anyone know if Yahoo Go for TV will work outside the US? Has anyone found a solution for the loss of zap2it for us Canadian users (e.g Rogers cable subscribers)?

Thanks,
NW

Yahoo won't work. It's US only. If you have a media center machine, you can yse the MCE grabber. There is also an MSN scraper that may work.

Pay solutions:
http://www.schedulesdirect.org is the best of all options in my opinion. See Shurik's link for the plugin.
http://www.ct-pvr.com has started a listing service. I'm not sure if they serve Canada or not.
