The initial value for Volume Scale after installation of MP is wrong and breaks volume control on WinVista and Win7 -> it is set to WindowsXP.

MP1 MP2 CEC Remote Plugin stops working after MP 1.35 upgrade DE

@CyberSimian Sorry, I missed your last post. I ended up doing a clean install on the client and all is well now. It still doesn't let me go back in time when I change channels but it does continue operating from that point on. I'm ok with that. Thanks for your help!
