Ok ,I'm having no luck with my passive HD3450..it's only live-tv 1080i/720p that gives me problem...everything on the harddrive, including 1080p blu-ray rips works just perfect. But not live tv...

So, today I deceided to get it working so I bought an HD4870...if this doesnt give me PERFECT live hdtv, then I don't know what to do...abandon MediaPortal..?!?

Well, I can return it to the shop if it doesnt work but I'm hoping...
Will start with a clean XP Pro SP3 and go from there...

I can report back on my progress and findings if anyones interested...:)

Great GOO-ga MOO-ga -- that's one powerful video card! I achieved great success with the N9500GT, myself... I'd like to think you'll be set for years to come having that (card) available for even future builds.

Haali is splitter, it split your video file to video/audio/subtitle parts - it is core part of video decoding. Without it you wont be able to play lot of media, switch between two or more audio tracks/subtitles, etc.

SAF told you that you should uninstall all other codecs, becouse there are no need of them any longer :)

I'm a bit of a noob with all this codecs, containers, splitters etc... but if its needed why not just include it in the package? after all I'd probably just go to Free-Codecs.com :: Download latest audio codecs, video codecs, codec packs and tools, FREE! to get it anyway...

I've downloader another version of MP1.0, will give it a try, but in the mean time need a new DVD drive and a clean install. All this messing about has caused some real stability issues. Any chance 1.1 will fix these problems?

Before I start reinstalling everything, I have this small report...

I installed DvbViewer, scanned and configured for 15min.
Result: PERFECT 1080i with my old HD3450...

    Well, what can one say...

Will give MP another chance tomorrow, with the new HD4870 etc...

    I'll be back...:D

One can (re)say that Mediaportal (specifically MP 1.0.1 and higher) has higher performance requirements than dvbviewer and Mediportal 1.0. That's what this thread was all about. A 4350 won't cut it. It is borderline with MPEG 2 1080i. h.264 1080i blows it out of the water. The only way I can get that format from my HD cam to **just** work is with CoreAVC.

As AndrewH said, a 4870 is a bit of overkill, but should ensure you have plenty of headroom for additional performance requirements in the future.
