MP can only have one active instance on a PC.
But head over to the (unreleased) MP2 section and see the recent skin screenshots published by morpheus_xx demonstrating PIP (picture-in-picture) where you will be able to watch two channels.

Funnily enough, I have modified my Windows 7 to allow 2 concurrent logins. This means I can RDP login with one account (so I change settings and stuff) whilst the other logged in user can watch TV, etc.
I noticed last night that when I logged in as this second user remotely, MP would actually start and run, so "technically" the one box was running 2 instances of MP, it was just doing it under 2 accounts at the same time. Mind you it was quite laggy and pointless to do (as running MP as a client on the remote box works much better with no lag).
This was not possible under Windows XP as it didn't support DirectX over RDP, only on the "Primary Display".

I got a similar error yesterday just when a watched episode ended...
Didn't copy the logs unfortunately but now i'm in a weird situation. Trakt website shows that episode as watched, but in onlinevideos (where i watched that episode) it still is not flagged as watched.

The only configuration that is certain to work is when the MP client and MP server are from the same release.
It is sometimes possible to use MP clients from a release that is different to the MP server, but whether it works depends on the specific changes that were made between the two releases.
