Just my 2 cents but ...

If you implement a generic ticker then implement the stock stuff on top of it, then others can use the ticker code for other things.

A ticker is far above my coding level.....but I should have something that will display the current price, change, opening price, days hi/lo range and volume. I also have the code working to download the various charts from 1 day through 5 years.
All this is working......now I just need to work out how the GUI works....

But could you allow your code to display any text (maybe even HTML or XML) and allow placement of the scrolling to be configurable as well as the speed of the scrolling?

Put simply no. Im not at that level where I can do that yet.
Once the plugin is stable I will upload it complete with source to let someone else add that in if they want.

Would you consider adding: number of shares bought, bought at price level?

That way you could see the value of your portfolio...
