I'd love to see the MediaPortal genres customizable. There are loads of genres that just don't fit the pre-selected ones. E.g. soap, drama, food, reality, comedy, sci-fi, game show, etc.

I agree.

If you read ETSI EN 300 468, there are 11 top level categories (genres), and each of them have several sub-categories (sub-genres).

These categories (toplevel and sub) are well known and standardized. Why is this not the default genre mapping in MP?

At least there should be really more genres in MP...

the biggest problem is that every program can have several genres. What should MP show in that case? right now it shows just the first one.

Actually in many cases it doesn't show any because none of them fit. I'd rather have the first one than nothing at all.

In the UK, the EPG transmitted in the DVB-T datastream allows each programme to have two genres -- a primary genre, and a secondary genre (i.e. a subgenre). How does the Timezone flag work? What input is it looking for? I went through the source code and all I saw was "America/New_York." I tried "America/Chicago" but still getting GMT times in the xmltv.xml file. Edit: Got this figured out. In the XmlTv plugin, you need to select "Apply timezone compensation when loading tvguide.xml" and...

There is a conflict as you have said between WinTV ad MP TV. MP TV takes over the Hauppauge HVR-1265 card. I may be even getting more channels with it. The Titan TV worked great until last year. Now it will not run the scheduler. WinTV scheduler will let me program manually but I have to set a program for each day. If I try to set...

I'm running 2.5 with the WMC skin. I have .mp4 files, along with the related .srt files in the same folder. I can watch the movies just fine. In past versions of MP, like 2.4x, I could press the More Info button on my remote twice, and on the second press, an option for showing/choosing the subtitles was listed. I'd select the...
