that depends on how many folders you have. i'm a great fan of album coverart and that is not that easy when several albums are in one artist folder.
if you have severals artist with 5+ albums i would make a single folder for that!
another possibility is to spilt your album collection in A-E, F-J etc. folders to improve speed.

Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal.
