Quick report on Catalyst 8.2 with x1250/690G and MP (Vista 32bit):

    - preview of ffwd and rev of mpg2 videos / dvd functions at last with EVR (VMR9 was no problem)
    - CoreAVC setting "deinterlace" to "hardware" does not result in video freeze any more

It looks like that the ATi Catalyst team silently improving the interaction of DirectShow Filters and Renderers with the x1250. I think this is very important for optimal video (HDTV) playback.

PS: setting CoreAVC to deinterlace "hardware" results though in dropped frames and jitter >30. Not what I expected... I hoped that the GPU can manage the deinterlacing of 1080i, letting CPU do the rest. With "no(weave)" or "blend" no dropped frames and jitter <2

Here's my report on Catalyst 8.2 with x1250/690G and MP, with Cyberlink video decoder and XP Professional 32bit:

Hardware acceleration of 720p and 1080i MPEG2 video still does not work - causes MP to hang. Turning hardware aceleration off (in the Cyberlink video decoder) does work, although the CPU% is then around 50%.

Fickering of video in the MP preview window is still broken, although this too is fixed by turning hardware aceleration off.

Reflections (flipy) is still broken - causes MP to hang.

It is fairly evident that the x1250 is very poorly supported by ATI with Windows XP - it looks like the 8.2 driver for Windows XP enables very minimal functionality ....

I am very surprised that ATI make such extravagant claims for this chip in relation to HD content, and then totally fail to deliver ....

I'll see if I can modify it later today (although I am now using nVidia 8500GT :D)
    ___________

OK. Replace XML's in zip. (Note: This is only the XML-files. You need to DL the XFace skin also die to mediafiles).

Please tell me how it works out - since I can not test myself.

    OK - new try :D

    My Findings

I spent days with my newly built HTPC trying to improve the video quality with the onboard x1250. I found that nothing removed the ghosting and reduced the picture noise. I installed my old Gefore 7500 GS card and the visual improvement was dramatic. Ghosting was gone in an instance. Same settings in FFDSHOW same configuration in media portal and both running same resolutions. Nivida drivers beat ATI's hands down especially with test screens for calibration.

This however was using windows xp service pack 2 with all the updates applied. Another thing to mention is that my motherboard was unstable until I applied the latest Sound drivers from Relatek and not the motherboard manufacture Gigabyte in my case.
I own a copy of Vista ultimate so I’m going to rebuild it with vista and see the results and post here!

Thanks for the fast work! But unfortunately it doesnt work, I still get a blocked MP. I replaced the .xmls from the 1.4 Release of XFace. Any idea? Is it working for someone here?
