MCE Remote

I use the MCE Remote and it works great only cost £15.

Has bought a cheaper remote for £8 which was a Cyberlink Media Center Remote Control but it had to Back button or at least I could not get one to work.

Got the MCE Remote and never looked back.

Would recommend the Harmony One to anyone.
I also use the Harmony One with the Microsoft receiver.
It works good but my problem is that the One is a bit slower then the Microsoft remote. This is especially a problem when using EPG. Did you make the same experience?

I have a Harmony 659 that I can't live without. I'm still in the process of building my media center, but I just ordered this remote on Ebay for $10, mainly for the IR port and drivers. I'll let you guys know if it works well once it arrives.

I have a cheap one off Ebay USB PC Remote Wireless Mouse 4 Multimedia Windows Store on eBay, also, PC Remote Controls, Input Devices, Computing (end time 25-Dec-08 09:23:59 GMT) Its a reasonable remote the RF signal works all round the house and even outside, generally used for Winamp and Media player classic which is fine but lacks the curser keys required for Media portal.

Looking for a new one preferably RF again, are all the MCE ones IR?

Maybe one of these? PC Remote Control 4 Microsoft Media Center MCE Vista XP on eBay, also, PC Remote Controls, Input Devices, Computing (end time 26-Nov-08 13:26:59 GMT) assuming the arrow keys around the trackball are curser keys, anyone used one?

Anyone able to get this remote to work?

PC Remote Control Windows Media Center XP Controller - (eBay.ca item 320319994125 end time 26-Nov-08 01:34:04 EST)

I am confused on how to setup a generic IR receiver/remote in media portal. Where would I attempt to configure this in the remote options page in Media Portal Configuration?

That last one is a nice remote, and should work nicely with Mediaportal.. BUT it is INFRA RED, not radio as you wish.

An official Microsoft remote should work without setup out of the box.. at least mine did :) No driver installation needed, No Key mapping or other difficult things to do.. plug it in and it works.

It is if you want more things to do with your remote like opening and closing of other programs then it starts to get complicated.

    something like this:

DELL MICROSOFT MEDIA CENTER REMOTE CONTROL RC6 on eBay, also, PC Remote Controls, Keyboards, Mice Input, Computers Networking (end time 10-Dec-08 17:22:15 GMT)

There are also bundles for sale, including an IR Receiver.

Many thanks for the answer. So far I've used Logitech's Harmony hub. This allows you to control all components (including the media portal). I have now contacted the Sofabaton hotline. It should also work here like with the Harmony. Unfortunately, not all of the IR codes are correct. You can also learn commands here. But that doesn't...

Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal. Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...
