MP will take any imbedded cover art images from your tagged mp3s or use folder.jpg.
Personally, I use http://album-cover-art-downloader.en.softonic.com/ to grab folder pics and file pics for me. This also has them show up through windows explorer. (this will require an internet connection if you do not have the pics locally, but will insert any pics you have locally for you)
If you already have imbedded art/folder pics then you need to rescan your music DB. Make sure that all three check boxes in "use for thumb creation" section are checked.
If you are want continual monitoring for new files, make sure to check "auto-update DB on changes in share".
You can also place artist images in folder "Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\Music\Artists".
In the Now Playing screen, MP will alternate between album-art and artist-art.
