i'm on 1.0 and streamedmp is crashing and freezing all over the place randomly.

usually after I do a lot of stuff, like look at movies or listen to the radio.
it just freezes, i have to close and reboot and it works fine again.

Probably best to start a separate thread for this and post your log files - seems like a different issue.

A similar problem was once known as the "NV 6150" issue. Some weak onboard gfx suffered from GUI freeze e.g. in PlayingNow when skins like monochrome used that "fake analyzer" animation. However after making sure that _all_ other images on this screen are set in a threadsafe manner it didn't occur again.

So if it appears on your basic home screen we should find out which plugin loads/changes which pictures here (I don't guess that animation handling itself is 100% bug free but let us assume it for now).

Hi rtv, we would like to get to the bottom of this issue. Its probably the only reason that its not listed on the homepage yet.

What would you suggest to do to narrow it down? The log file that is generated is not providing much detail, perhaps we can have a test dll with more debugging information.

The issue is very easy to reproduce, just enter BasicHome and do the following:

    1. Click UP twice to My Music (Start position is TVseries)
    2. Enter My Music
    3. Exit My Music
    4. Repeat about 8 times

After exiting the final time, and scrolling up again, you will see the crash

Note: This is just an example of how to reproduce it, you dont need to start on TVseries and Enter My Music.

I have attached logs with all my plugins disabled except for My Music.

The last thing mentioned in the logs is: [Debug][MPMain]: Window: WindowPlugins.home.GUIBasicHome init

    There is no error.log generated!

    Cheers,
    Damien

The Same issue can also be easily reproduced using XFace 1.7 as Im sure other skins using BasicHome (I tried Blue3 but had no luck).

The Same issue can also be easily reproduced using XFace 1.7 as Im sure other skins using BasicHome (I tried Blue3 but had no luck).

    So basically to reproduce:
    1. Go to any plugin (preferably having thumbs - like Music)
    2. Go to Basichome (Is normal home working okay?) to trigger the Texture cleanup
    3. Repeat until ? Please describe more detailed what the result is.

Is there any "clean" skin which I can use to reproduce? Unfortunately Streamed MP still has many severe issues (like missing files for thumb creation, etc) and xFace's Basichome screen is using a unique feature Bavarian and Harley introduced. So I am searching for a more "standard" skin to reduce the possible sidetracking from other issues. Does it happen e.g. with indigo?

If Aeon Wide is considered *clean* then you can also reproduce on that. I can't reproduce on Indigo/Monochrome unfortunately.

The Result that is seen just before the crash is a loss of labels on Basic Home. When you start to navigate at this point, the crash occurs. See screen shots of Before/After for illustration.

The issue does not occur on Normal Home, or maybe it does but I just haven't seen it yet.

Can you also elaborate on what the severe issues are, we would appreciate any knowledge you can transfer so we can address these issues.

    Cheers

MediaStream skin doesn't crash, but all animations die. I'm left with a black screen with only my basic menu-items. I posted some screenshots in another thread somewhere...this is, howver, not with basicHome but myHome.

I doubt the myHome/basicHome has anything to do with it, but all the animations that are there...

Yup, can reproduce as you describe with Aeon Wide- I get the MP Basichome freezing after going in and out of MovingPictures 5 or 6 times - no error message pops up, have to basically reboot (even tho windows is still responsive, can VNC on and bring up task manager - i think cause I have MP set to "remain on top" thats why I can't end task it properly).

Anyways, heres the last entries in my MediaPortal.log before it hangs:

Thanks for the tip on how to reproduce this prob - I've been going mad thinking it was soemthing to do with resuming from standby (as that's when the problem usually manifests after a day or so of usage).

edit - just tested with Indigo and Basichome and normal home both appear to work just fine.

    cheers

    First result:
The crash is happening due to a stack overflow exception in GUIGroup.cs: GetFocusControlId()
Obviously the children aren't handled nicely.

Good news is that the issue is not related texture management, phew... cannot be as bad as it would have been. Are there any recursive calls on that are that could cause easialy the stack overflow?
