I have Mamma Mia and Sex and the City. There are a number of Mamma Mia hits on imdb, but it picks the first hit. I think it should think the latest or mainstream version is leading. Why on earth would I have a full HD version of a 1953 stereo black and white version of Mamma Mia? And the fist hit for Sex and the City is the series, but it's MovingPictures, right? Not MovingTVseries ;)

If you would name the title with a year (which i think is a good practise) your results will be more accurate. The reason for both mistakes however should be improved on in our IMDB provider/script.

One little cosmetic error I found: Sometimes when I have just started my HTPC, when I enter MovingPictures in the top left corner it says: "unwatched and filtered movies". The problem is that it is showing all my movies, nothing is filtered out (not even the watched ones). If i click "back" on my remote, I just end back in MP Home-menu.
If I click the watched off and on again, and filter the movies and then click "back", It shows correctly.
This is with skin Monochrome using the Generic Skinfiles from your latest release. Generic Skin files is because I exchanged the Monochrome MovingPictures skinfiles with some customs, and didn't want to reinstall entire Monochrome. When I get the time I'll try and reinstall Monochrome (or hopefully install MediaStream) and see if this still happens.
Yeah I know. We will be releasing 0.6.1 tonight with some fixes to some nasty bugs and I think I might have gotten what you are describing fixed as well. I am not sure though I was having a hard time reproducing it, so I guess we will see.

Got another request though :) (Didn't see it in the request/issues list yet)
I would love the possibility to remove a movie from the movingpictures list or/and from my harddrive when I watched it.
There is a request to add a menu option to delete a movie. Auto deleting after a movie has been watched sounds a little like playing with fire to me though. :p If there are enough requests we could add it as an advanced option maybe though.

sorry if this has been asked before: is it planned for the next versions to have logos or text description of the file details? Would be nice to see if a movie has 5.1 or just stereo sound

Edit: and I miss the good old counter (number of movies) of MyVideos in the upper left corner :-(
Logo support is planned, but there are a few other issues that take priority. As for the total number of movies, maybe that is something we could provide to the skinner.

I can not get it to automatically set the "watch" flag.
I have only tested this with iso files (no avi).
One movie I played to the very end and it returned to the DVD menu.
The other was played to 95% then I stopped the movie.
The two movies does not have the watch flag set and I had to do this manually.
I have verified this last night and can say it didn't update the watched flag. Sat through almost all the end titles, did watch some extras afterwards. (complete rip of full DVD, not just main movie)
Movie was still marked as unwatched.

This is on our tracker now, armandp is looking into it.

    @fforde

I just want to let you know that after deleting my whole database and doing a reimport of all my movies, they were all succesfully added.

Maybe there was just something wrong with my database.

I did however notice 1 thing when doing a manual add IF a movie isnt recognized or seen at all.
You cant change the location of the movie itself.

for instance movie 1 isnt recognised at all and is in c:\movie1
If you make c:\movie2 and put in test.mkv for instance, then Moving pictures sees the new movie. If you choose to manually change that movie you cant point it to c:\movie1
    Hope i make any sense?

Yeah you can't "move" a file through the Moving Pictures GUI. I assume you want to change the file path so you can move the file and not lose your custom modifications right? If so I think the solution is the NFO writer we have planned. But that is a ways off right now I am sorry. Or maybe I am misunderstanding you.

Is there a way to make MovingPictures more intelligent in recognizing movies? For instance, I have The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (imdb name), but since ":" is an invalid character in filenames, I have named it The Chronicles of Narnia - The Prince Caspian.

The Moving Pictures plugin database config editor thingie totally gets that it's THAT movie, but within MP itself it won't show, the plugin database config editor thingie keeps waiting untill I click approve.

Another thing, and I state in advance that BOTH these movies are for the girlfriend, again ... for the girlfriend

Under Advanced Settings there is an option to adjust the tolerance of the auto approver. The setting is called Title Auto-Approve Threshold. The higher the number the more likely the importer is to auto approve a match. The default is 1, so if you want it to auto approve more frequently, maybe bump it up to 2 or 3. I would be careful about putting it any higher than that though. And also, keep in mind this could cause some movies to get auto approved to the incorrect movie. You're basically telling the importer it doesn't have to be so confident when approving matches.

Ok it is not just me then. Also noticed it is on the issue tracker.

I also noticed another bug with iso files.

Resume playback is not function properly for dvd iso images.
It works OK if I stop a movie and restart the same one again. Then it asks if I want to resume from xx:yy and if I choose yes it start from that position.

However if I start another dvd iso image (daemon tool mounts another disc) and stop this one. Then return to the first one.
I still get the same question if I want to resume from xx:yy. But when I choose yes it takes a few seconds (while daemon tool mounts the disc) then I get the question if I want to start the disc just inserted. I choose yes and now it should take me to the xx:yy position. But the disc start from the beginning with menus and all.

How about (I too think this should be in Advanced settings though) a dialog popping up with
"Do you want to keep this movie?" with |DELETE| / |KEEP| buttons á la MCE? MCE also have the stupid |REPLAY| button if I remember correctly...

it's not auto-approving because your file is named:

The Chronicles of Narnia - The Prince Caspian

    and imdb is:

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

that's a difference of three characters , and not going to be auto-approved by default (max one character difference).
Also only word characters (and spaces) are compared.. all cahracters like - and : are filtered out to get these kind of nameing differences out of the way.

No sorry, that's my bad. It is called The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian. It isn't recognized, or should I edit something in the properties of the plugin?

Okay, I'll try that. All in all, most movies are recognized correctly. I try to name my movies closely matched to imdb, so it should work, but sometimes like sex and the city and mamma mia, I just don't get the choices it makes. But moving pictures is better than anything else, so thanks!

I installed 0.6 and it is amazing! Some great improvements overall. My main issue right now is pulling the folder.jpg form the movie folders. I set the command to true in advanced settings, but its still not working. Its probably just a bug but I figure I would say something.
