Take AutoCAD as an example. It wouldn't be as big as it is now if it weren't for their bad copy protection and all the illegal copies that was floating around in the beginning.

It may, as someone else wrote, not only be bad (not that i support the idea in any way).

mdsflyer - Like your POV, sort of free advertising on behalf of MP, 'Spread the Word' seems like the start of a good media campaign  1 day I also hope to visit your country!

Zion22 - Yes, agree

NLS - Well how does the Micros*** story go? I think I agree with you if I understand what your saying?

Once again big thanks to MP Devs for an awesome experience, for FREE and made for love of doing it:)

MicroSloth was a bit "stupid" (in fact very smart) in allowing Windoz to be widely pirated for years. Windoz major income was from OEM and companies anyway (that were the only ones a bit "enforced" to be legal). This allowed for Windoz (that back then SUCKED HARD compared to other OS) to spread like a virus. Initially people that wanted to have the same OS at home as they have at work, programmers etc. Then everybody. I was there and saw it happening (oh do I have stories).

Now all of us have at least one Windoz machine. And now MicroSloth comes enforcing Windoz to be legal even at households. Now you ("you" doesn't mean you specifically) cannot do otherwise (and even if you still can do otherwise, the time comes that it will be so hard to keep doing otherwise and you will loose so much by doing it, that you will prefer to pay for them anyway). So the Trojan horse project worked. Didn't it? MS Win is the most spread Trojan horse.

Sorry for the off topic but Steeb asked. :)

(and an excuse to say thanks to the devs too: thanks people once more!)

I am also intrigued to know what Happy Talks posting was as he/she was selling MP on ebay but apparently giving something back to those very hard working MP Devs?! Post has been deleted.

Amazing what you can BUY at computer fairs as well.

Just TREAT it as advertizing, sooo many posts and annoyed PPL over this, it is not worth getting annoyed over.

Saying that, all donations to the MP project welcome.

Great thanks to all the Devs involved in this project, just to say all the frustration is worth it, and never give up because of an ill spoken post, people do have a habit of opening mouth, without engaging brain.

    Steeb,

If it annoys you that much you could always contact the people who are bidding/who have won to point out the fact they've just been ripped off. I'm sure they would leave bad feedback then, and I'm sure it just takes one bad feedback pointing out that the seller is selling free software to cripple their sales for good!

I've done that ^^ for a few ebay auctions when I see people bidding on MP.

I let them know they're buying free software which is available to download online and they should leave appropriate feedback for the seller.

Okay - I don't find anything positive in your comment, it is your point of view, which I admire but I acknowledge it thus: googling is not the answer to world hunger and poverty. I am very ashamed that I am not as intelligent as you. How can I be prerfect like you and stop being a sucker to tricksters/gamsters and cheats? :p

Hey! Late reply on the mather, but:
You are putting words in my mouth. I'm not trying to end world starvation... IMO I'm just saying what is a known fact - today, in the past and in the future: As long as ppl are spending money without giving it any though (Eg.: "What am I buying?", "It's an auction - what does it really cost?") - ppl will take advantage of this.

Why do you think there are ppl spamming e-mails?

BECAUSE THERE ARE SUCKERS BUYING THE PRODUCT!

(Oh, and how many ways is it possible to spell a word that simulate viagra, anyway? And you really are a sucker if you buy from a link found in a mail with the topic: "CHEpAtP ViAGoRA"!?

I'm not saying anything about my intelligence either... I belive intelligent ppl can be suckers to.

I'm sorry you got tricked - I don't belive it has anything to do with your intelligens - but yes: As long as ppl buy MP at e-bay - ppl will sell MP on e-bay.

At last: I didn't mean to offend you. Sorry if I did.

Ok, thanks much. I will look into the instructions above. For the moment, I turned off the "Automatic channel logo update" in Settings (which somehow I had missed, I think because it wasn't an option previously), and the deleted everything in the Flat-default folder and populated it with my own logos. Works, so far.

I am running a Xubuntu machine as a server with all my movies and series on it, I run a VirtualBox VM with Windows 10 installed on the virtual machine and MP1 client installed on that. MP runs fine on the VM but I no longer have a tv tuner to test if passthrough is possible. I don't think it would work anyway.

After many hours of troubleshooting I've given up and accepted that it's just "one of these things" when using madVR for watching live TV. I've now ticked the box to "Use EVR for LiveTV", with a default display refresh rate of 50Hz. In combination with tweaking some of the Nvidia 3D settings for the MP executable only, I now have a...
