Never tried it that way, so if you said it works, I believe you, would be interesting to see any difference, just always "added" the other options myself, so really would like to know if it will work without, might see if I can check this myself over the weekend

Open MediaPortal - TV Server Configuration
"Force Import" on the Plugins/Xmltv/General dialogue, (ignore the status)

The electronic program guides (tvguide.xml) have been successfully transferred to MediaPortal.
