So at the moment I'm using DScaler without DXVA (tv) and all other Codecs with DXVA (for films, series). Also this is not perfect image quality and I have sometimes also dropouts in TV-Viewing (every 20 Minutes or so). With my DVB-C TV-Tuner this never happens and they both on the same cable connection. But this problem occurs in all constellations.

What happens if you open the TV guide while a video playback ?

MediaPortal's V-sync is managed by the AERO and with AERO disabled it is not possible to "snap" frame presentation to the v-sync (in theory it would be possible, but would require lot of ugly code in dshowhelper.dll).

    @tourettes,

Do you think this would solve the other flickering problem too? Who would like to do some ugly codeing to test this?

No, such change wont have anything to do with the flickering...

I tested it. Set back to dxva Codec Power DVD 9. Started a film from Moving Pictures. Go to TV Guide and it was flickering (TV was not on!). I'm using at the moment blue3wide. But I had the same issues with Indigo-Skin.

After I while I started more tests and played around. The other views like Music, Homescreen, ... are also flickering but really rarely and it seems to be that it is only flickering when you do something, like going down/up, showing options menu.

The strange thing is in Moving Pictures-View I was scrolling through the whole list, showing details, show menu, etc... and only the small frame with the video picture showed sometimes a little bit flickering. In the other Views always the whole screen was flickering.

When the movie is running, also other Views like MySeries-Plugin seems to flicker. But MySeries had no preview frame with the video. After I stopped the Movie flickering was gone in all Views.

Flickering in TV Guide/Main-TV view all 5-10 seconds, also then you do nothing.
Flickering in other Views mostly when you do something.

    Hope this helps.

Well look at that!!! The newest Ati driver 9.9 is capable of AERO on AND VA deinterlacing.

You are right. Don't realized this because I used the dirty hacks of dxva checker. But flickering is still present.

I'm also having this ONLY when using TV. If I use same codecs w/video, it does not flicker. (Quick testing only).
some skins are more affected than others; xFactor much more than Black Glass.

Will provide more details later, after reading more in the thread.

IMHO this isue is one which sould be fixed for the last final of MP1. Visual appearance is a key factor for the impression a product leaves at the user even if they are not aware of it.

Unfortunately there is no clue what is causing it on ATI HW (lot of it has been cured already). So, most likely it wont be fixed :(

using latest Blue3Wide (after the overlay rework) I cannot see it on my friend's machine. I also upgraded their machines to 9.9 CCC.
