Flickering Tv-guide and other overlays with EVR enabled (6 Viewers)

using latest Blue3Wide (after the overlay rework) I cannot see it on my friend's machine. I also upgraded their machines to 9.9 CCC.

With Catalyst 9.9 my TV Client doesn't work properly anymore after resuming from standby.
Pressing "TV on" checks the button after lots of seconds but no picture or sound appears. The server however is timeshifting correctly as it grabs EPG for the selected channel. After a reboot TV / Radio is starting inmediately again.
Downgrading to 9.6 cured this.

However I've spot another interesting detail that bugged me on my nvidia rigs as well:
On many channels I see "flickering" parts at the top (and sometimes the bottom) of the screen. It's more than just one noise line but you do not notice it any longer if you e.g. zoom with 14:9 aspect mode. More interesting might be the fact that the rate of flicker drastically reduces if I open some OSD. Before it is just some annoying "instable" picture with some overlay you realize it's some "refresh" thing going on and off. I'll check whether I can capture it on a movie.

^This is the same as I am experiencing. Try using a skin like xFactor and see how BHS looks. Here it is completely unusable if TV miniview/preview is displayed.

I'm also having this ONLY when using TV. If I use same codecs w/video, it does not flicker. (Quick testing only).
some skins are more affected than others; xFactor much more than Black Glass. (...)

No - it is not. And like its appearance change related to MP's rendering already indicated a connection to the flickering bug it is also gone if you use a codec which doesn't support DXVA.

So we might have reached a point where there's even an impact on the video quality when nothing of MP is displayed. Even worse as it also affects Nvidia.

Odd, and i doubt such as the zoom shouldn't solve such. Please try to record a clip of that issue.

vista was fine, but i upgraded to win7 x32 recently, and now i have lots of troubles with this. 190 WHQL driver on nvidia 9500 GT, skin is xface.
displaying the tv guilde will not only flicker, but it will stutter very badly (pauses of up to 2 seconds!). even worse, after that the fullscreen tv picture consists of only artifacts. i have to rewind -15 seconds, and then the picture is ok again.
maybe we need to take some slightly illegal substances and try to get an epiphany?

edit: i think that win7 changed something with regards to locking when multiple windows are drawn concurrently. this improves performance when more windows are shown on the desktop. but it seems it is easier to trigger the bug in MP now

edit 2: according to https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-skin-flackern-nach-upgrade-68528/index2.html this might be related to the newest nvidia drivers. will revert back and try again.

edit 3: ok, tried 195 beta, 191whql and 190whql which are all broken with MP. but reverting back to 186 whql fixed the problem.

Hi all

have have been experiencing the flickering myself with EVR enabled my my ATI 4600 series board.. i just updated to the ATI catalyst 9.11 driver for windows 7 x64 (released 17th nov 09) and it seems to have solved it for me.. no more flickering..

I also have 9.11 installed with a more powerful Radeon 4770 and I am using Windows 7 x64. It still flickers if I use a DXVA-Codec. No flicker with Dscaler5 - (no DXVA but with Hardware deinterlacing). I also have a more powerful Radeon 5770 on another computer with Mediaportal installed as Client. It also flickers with this setup.

Hi All

I messed around yesterday and everything was peacy, until i got to an specific series and the flickering started again.. but using 9.11 driver the onlinevideos plugin stopped flickering and HD content doesnt flicker anymore..

ill do some more test tomorrow and ill se if i can find a pattern in my setup.
