I completely reinstalled my HTPC yesterday.

Win7 Pro
Catalyst 10.2
ATI2600 Pro
AMD X2 4800+
MediaPortal 1.1 RC1

I still have the flickering problem no matter which codec I try. I tried MS codec, MPC-HC and PowerDVD (8 & 9), but that didn't change a bit.
So for me the problem is still there.

0002748: Remove ATI flickering hack - MediaPortal Bugtracker

The removal of the flicker hack causes that you always get a black picture in full screen mode during video playback. Tested with two setups with ATI GPU.

We need to figure out what exactly causes it since team members are able to use ATI + current SVN without seeing the black screen (one laptop seems to be affected by it).

I have tested Manfred´s new Core.dll and I only get a black screen with SD Content. HD channels are working fine in fullscreen.
Running my HTPC with a Radeon 5450.

Hack removing affects core so testing it with old core.dll imho not good practice.

Yeah, HDTV channels indeed work fine. But SD not. And also during normal video playback (MKV, AVI) I get a black screen (only in full screen mode), the video is displayed fine when I go back to the home screen (video displaying in small window). I have one server and one client. The client has a Radeon 5770, the server a Radeon 5450. Both show the same problems. SVN 24196 works fine.

    I posted a log here:

Please test following dshowhelper.dll and core.dll. Maybe they will cure the flickering (most likely not). Also if someone is experiencing the black video with current SVN (the one after RC1 :)) same should happen with theattached ones.

Tested the new core en fontengine dll. I saw a short flickering once within the overlays, but..... when zapping , frames from the previous channel are played at increased speed upto the point where the new stream is tuned and played. The screen is not blanked for a short moment as it was with the original dll's.

Recently I changed graphic cards from ATI HD2600XT to ATI 4650HD with that change and the same drivers flickering has reduced by 99,99 percent. Even so, an present NVIDIA 8800GT in the same system gives no flickering at all with either dll's.

I tested with microsoft's codecs and cyberlink 8 where cyberlink 8 does give a black screen with Eurosport HD and microsoft does not. All other HD channels play fine as do mkv's and other HD media.

    Hi there,

Your file does not contain a new dshowhelper - but fontengine.dll file???

    Thanks,

    J.

I get a black picture in Full Screen Mode with SD-TV and while playing back normal videos.

Could you also look into the problem why the DScaler MPEG2 decoder does not connect anymore within Mediaportal? It did work with MP 1.02 and that was the best MPEG2 decoder for me because it is flicker-free. The filter does not use DXVA, but instead you can use Hardware Deinterlacing and you'll get the same good picture as with the normal Cyberlink filters.
