By switching DXVA off for MPEG2 in Mediaportal config - directshow filter control - powerdvd * decoder settings, the problem is gone!

??? why are you suprised? Of course it is gone withot dxva. This is a DXVA issue. If you switch it off, it is gone. As well your nice hardware deinterlacing.

I did not find any software mpg2 decoder that can match with DXVA with my ATi card (tried ffdshow, ATi avivo codec, MPV, Cyberlink without DXVA etc). Scrolling text of news TV (n24, ntv, etc) smooth is the best test

Ah, I understand. Finally; never thought of it that way. Actually it would be nice if they can somehow 'break' DXVA when 'minimizing' the thing your are watching. Or maybe make it an option to automatically pause when you minimize?

Not possible as its the codecs that decide when DXVA is in use (and that cannot be turned on/off during run time).

Eureka! With Catalyst 8.12 (Beta) the flickering has gone away (PowerDVD 8-Filter and DXVA enabled)!

Hm.. gave 'em (RC3) a go (using XP + HD3450) and seems like the "black box" does not happen as often anymore (only using YouTube) - not even in EPG.

I use Vista x64 SP2 (Beta) with Radeon 3200 onboard-graphic (780g). Even if I scroll heavily through the EPG there is no flicker any more with Cyberlink Filters and DXVA enabled.

Are you really really sure that DXVA is enabled (and not just broken?)
