What am I doing wrong?

I have tried-several times- the guides in these posts. I have finally been able to create the TvGuide.xml file correctly. I still can't seem to get the data into MediPortal. What am I doing wrong? I have enclosed the TvGuide file.

I am so close, I'd really like to get this working.

Yes, I have tried this. What else do I need to do?

If I was to rescan-again- would this help? I already did this more than once, but I am at a loss. I have worked with this for several weeks and can not get the guide data to show up in MP. Is there a bug that a new SVN will fix? I am clueless and disgusted right now. I will appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

I'm still on 0.2.3 and it's always been working fine. The EPG data looks good. I just want to make sure, but are you sure the channel names match the first display name in the data?

3.1 KSNWDT
8.1 KPTSDT
8.3 KPTSDT3
8.2 KPTSDT2

And all those others.

If so, what about your grabber settings? In the Configuration program, go to Television -> Program Guide and click on the Scheduler tab. The Grabber should be set to "TVguide.xml File." Then try clicking Run Grabber, click OK to save the settings, run MediaPortal again, and see if the new guide data shows up.

I tried all that. I even went as far as going to the TVGuide.xml file and copying and pasting the channel numbers into Media Portal to avoid typos. Still no luck.

Now I have installed For The Record to see if it was any better. FtR will take the xml file and parse it correctly, but I still do not get any guide in Media Portal. I do not understand it.

Do you have your timezone set correctly in the settings? Also, try checking future dates of the EPG in MediaPortal. If you have everything set up like how it sounds like you did, it should be working. The data might just be a few hours or days ahead and there's nothing behind it, which is where you would be according to your system time.

I turned off the timezone correction until I get this working correctly. But I looked clear ahead in the guide until the end and still there is nothing.

I have included the log files and the xml file in case you can find anything wrong.

BTW: I just uninstalled everything and re-installed, and still get the same thing.

Your logs do indeed clearly show the problem:

2008-06-23 14:21:35.828125 [SetupTv]: plugin:xmltv importing C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv\tvguide.xml
2008-06-23 14:21:35.843750 [SetupTv]: xmltv import C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv\tvguide.xml
2008-06-23 14:21:35.906250 [SetupTv]: Xmltv: imported 10 channels, 0 programs status:

The channels seem to be parsed correctly, but no programs are found. Then again, the file must be OK since For The Record imports it correctly.

I did also notice this:

2008-06-23 12:35:28.421875 [TVService]: PluginManager: Loaded XmlTv version:1.0.0.0 author:Frodo

Wasn't the XMLTV imported improved by Laban? Is this still the old version running perhaps, could that be the problem?

I don't know what to look for in the logs, but here are some other things you can try:

1. Check to see if you have the latest version of zap2xml at zap2xml. I remember Zap2It making some changes and I stopped getting EPG data in MediaPortal as well. Everything went back to normal after I updated zap2xml.

2. Use the OzTVDownload to map the channels and see if you can get temporarily get EPG data that way.

3. Try importing my TVguide.xml, which is attached. To test, I think you can just make one new channel, rename it, and leave everything else default. Don't bother adding ALL the channels in my TVguide.xml.

4. Try repeating the steps with the latest version of MediaPortal.

My best guess so far is number 1, which is pretty simple to do. I'll try importing your tvguide.xml if none of these methods work.

Okay. As I mentioned, I uninstalled and then re-installed the programs (RC1 svn 06-07-2008--02-05-Rev 19311). When I was installing them (I don't remember if it was the Media Portal or TV Server, I uninstalled then re-installed them both) the install program kept quitting with errors. It looked as though some of the files it needed were not available. Anyway, I kept running the install over and over. Each time it went a little further, until one time it went all the way through and succeeded. Then the program crashed about every 15-30 seconds or so, until I finally rebooted. That seemed to help-at least so far.

Then, when I was looking over the TV server Config in the plugins section under the xmltv options I saw the Mappings tab. I don't recall ever seeing that before, so I looked at it. I clicked the Load/Refresh button and it showed all of my channels. It showed that green for each channel--a perfect match! "Aha!!" I thought, and restarted Media Portal. But it still didn't work.

I kept thinking that the mappings tab was the key, but every time I refreshed, it showed 100% match. But, my natural curiosity wondered what would happen if I changed one of the stations to another one. How close would the natch be. So I expanded the Guide Channel tab to experiment. I saw 2 sets of channel numbers! One set, the one that was currently in use, just showed the numbers as: "3.1 KSNWDT". The other set showed up as: "3.1 KSNWDT (c3.1ksnwdt.zap2it.com)"!!

As soon as I saw those, I figured that they were what I was needing, so I changed all of my channels to the ones like the example above. It worked!!! So I have guide data finally, but I have a couple of questions:

1) How do I get the station logos into the listings? I have the zap2it files download them into a separate folder, but what do I need to do to get the logos into the listings? This isn't real important to me--if I can't get it, it will be okay. But it would be fun if I can.

2) How do I change the setup so that I can use the digits on the remote to enter the channel number (the "Friendly" Channel number, for lack of a better word), so that I can enter, for instance, 3.1 to go to the channel instead of the frequency, which is 45, or whatever.

3) You mentioned that the xmltv file is old. How can I get the new version? The forums are not very clear to a newbie like me when I am trying to find something.

Thanks for your kind help. It is much appreciated. I currently have Beyond TV and do not like it at all. So, if I can get this program working, I will donate some money.
