finally received shipment from China via Deal Extreme (postal strike in Canada delayed it further). Slowly tinkering with it.

Using Keyboard Input plugin:
1. Hitting power sends to suspend mode. Hitting power when in suspend mode does nothing (was expecting the PC to power up). What a bummer! Red LED light blinks in the dongle, but no wakey wakey. I have a Rii mini-keyboard which wakes it up fine (uses a USB RF dongle) so its not the motherboad and/or BIOS.
2. If I'm playing a video and I hit the back button, the video still plays in a small window while you navigate somewhere else. From trial and error, hitting 'x' on the keyboard brings the video back to fullscreen. Using a mouse, you can click on the small window and make it full screen. What about using the remote? Any suggestions for where should I put a new key mapping for 'x'? Or what's the equivalent "Action" for x or (Key Pressed for that matter). I have tried Actions "Show Fullscreen", "Show GUI" and "Toggle Windowed Fullscreen" with no effect. Perhaps someone can confirm?

Any comments regarding issue 1? How do you bring your HTPC back from suspend?

Cheers,

Ok, I'm at work right now, but when I come back home, I'll put here my xml file with the remote perfectly set up.
By the way, I can turn on/off my HTPC with the power button (it really suspends on/off the system, and it has to do with Windows, not the remote itself).

Cheers!

Enanno,

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I'm confused by the remote's behavior as well. When machine is sleeping and I press the Power button, I *do* see the LED button blinking red, but the machine does not wake up. Very strange.

One slight issue re: info button. When playing Full Screen TV, info (or "MORE") button, shows "NO DATA AVAILABLE" when clearly the TV guide has schedule information. Furthermore, I can press # key and then select down arrow key to get to PROGRAM INFO which shows me what I'm after. Anyone else, able to replicate that?

After having played with the remote over the weekend, I have only added 2 keys so far for CH/PG up and down which are mapped to Actions "Next Channel" and "Prev Channel", otherwise, I would get the guide with "Now playing" info.

Cheers.

enanno,

I was wondering if you ever posted your Remote .XML File and, how you were able to get the power on/off button working to wake up windows?

Thanks Sam

I'm very sorry for not replying before.
Here you have my .xml file for the KeyboardInput plugin.
But you should know that suspending on/off the system has to do with Windows, not the remote itself. You have to tell Windows that when you push the power button in your computer, the system should suspend, not shut down. That's the trick. Then you just can push the power button in your remote and the system will suspend instead of turning off.

ennano,

Appreciate the reply. When you say suspend on/off has to do with Windows, I believe its partially true. The other part is that the USB IR receiver has to do something as well, shouldn't it? In my case, going to suspend works fine (system goes to sleep).

When the system is asleep, hitting Power button on the remote gives me a red LED on the USB IR receiver, but no wakeup. I have tested that exact same USB port with another device which is able to successfully wake up the computer with no problems (it's a mini keyboard with a USB RF receiver). So, my point is that USB is receiving power when in suspend mode.

Perhaps, my USB IR receiver is faulty (ordered from Hong Kong).

Were you able to wake computer with remote from Suspend/sleep? Power button setting in Windows is set to "sleep", it just won't wake up.

Anyone feel like sharing their keymappings? I would like to see what everyone thinks as the best configuration.

I gave up on mine, was never able to get it to wake the computer from S3 Sleep. Went with logitech 200 and HP Ir Receiver from ebay. No XML file needed.

    Howdy,

Thanks for the headups on such a great/cheap remote and for telling all how to set it up. Cheers!

First post but long time user/watcher. I would love to post my xml file but can't seem to locate it or the folder in the suggested location in the first post. I originally downloaded your xml then imported it into the plugin and then adapted it. I have set up the WMC button to take you back to the Basic Home page menu from anywhere in the MP menu system and also have the power button set up to sleep the system. The exit button just exits MP to desktop. Also have one of the colour buttons set to add music file displayed to the playlist and another colour button to display the current playlist.

I would love to find the xml as I think it may be usefull for others and also I am about to upgrade to MP 1.2.1 with a fresh W7 install and it would be much easier to import my current xml.

I have my system in my specs file.

    Cheers

Yes since the newest release of the keyboardinput plugin it does not seem to find the XML in the old location... Will look into it and get back with you soon.
