What about using the HVR-1600 analog tuner with the TV Server? It doesn't seem to work and there is no CaptureCards.xml file to edit. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've got the same problem as you joe (see my thread here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...l?t=20411&highlight=encoder->mpeg2+demuxer )

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten it to work without manual intervention. Basically, I can bring up the graph in graphedit, and see just what that error log says - that the Hauppauge Encoder doesn't connect to the Mpeg2 Demultiplexer. The funny thing is that if I manually connect them while MP sits in the home screen, everything on the analog side works from there on out (i'm using Svideo from my STB, btw).

I'm still looking for fixes.... kinda frustrating.

Definately frustrating.
Ya have to love the amount of help on these things. lol

And tesamu, yeah, hvr owners seem to be out of luck with their cards at the moment. I'm just going to uninstall MP for the meantime, and wait until the new version's released, and I'll go from there. One benefit on using the "other" free pvr, is that it's a heck of a lot easier to use. Oh well. I still love MP, I just don't love it's lack of support.

I had most of the same problems indicated here by other posters, the digital portion of the tuner worked fine with the latest SVN. The analog side would find the channels but then when you went to watch tv all you had was a black screen. The card wasn't recognized at all after modifying the capturecarddefinitions in 0.2.2.

I did get everything working though and I thought I would share what it took to get it working:

1) Backed up 0.2.2. Uninstalled 0.2.2. Rebooted.
2) Installed 0.2.2 again. Did NOT configure MP. Copied the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml file from page 2 of this thread to the MediaPortal directory, overwriting the installed xml file. Note to download the file noted on page 2, don't just try and append as shown in page1 of this thread as what is noted on page1 is incomplete.
3) Now ran configure. Channels detected for both NTSC and ATSC(also note I am running a PVR-150 in addition to the HVR-1600). Everything went smoothly from here on out.

One buggy thing I did notice with the configure is if you edit the properties of the capture card in configure it has the nasty habit of changing the source for the card to antenna from cable. If this happens you no longer can tune tv with the card. I suggest always rechecking this setting after changing any property associated with the tuner.

This now allowed the analog and digital portion of the HVR-1600 to work fine, I can tune stations with both analog and digital.

I will say now that the HVR-1600 is up and running that the picture quality of the analog side is awful compared to the PVR-150. I am hoping it's just the tweaking of some settings to make them comparable. If anyone has anything to add about tweaking the settings for this card it is much appreciated.

I've also noticed that the HD reception causes a lot of crashes in MP. It appears to happen more often with weak signals.

Here's a fun one...

I'm on a fresh install of Vista, any version of MediaPortal installs and runs JUST FINE, except nothing I do will get it to see my HVR-1600 without using the TVserver. Now, I have a different device ID than any one listed in ANY of the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml posted on here, or any of the SVN's. See below for example:

devid="ven_14f1&dev_5b7a&subsys_74440070&rev_00"

Would everyone else please download graphedit and verify their device ID's? Us HVR-1600 guys need to stick together, since noone else seems to give a darn about making sure mediaportal will work with these new cards.

(also, has anyone gotten the hvr-1600 remote to work in Vista with mediaportal?)

Thanks,
William

I've tried to edit the device id in the attached xml file from page 2 to match mine, but my mediaportal still sees nothing when trying to add add a tuner.

I'm almost at wits end with this card, and VERY close to going back to the pvr150.

Is the deviceID dictated by the driver? If so, I'll try some older drivers or something.

Thanks,
BillyM

I think 1.38 is easier, it's a minor addition, judging by the lack of bugs, 1.39 is still a long way off. Ideally, the TuningParameters settings would be moved to MPE1, along with all the skins. Then any minor fixes could be updated quickly.

There is a conflict as you have said between WinTV ad MP TV. MP TV takes over the Hauppauge HVR-1265 card. I may be even getting more channels with it. The Titan TV worked great until last year. Now it will not run the scheduler. WinTV scheduler will let me program manually but I have to set a program for each day. If I try to set...

Well, all that remains is to find someone who will add this render if it is a render.

The reason I was thinking I needed more RAM is that TV now seems to be HiDef and so the files have grown. I edit the files before storing them, to reduce some size. It is finding that slower, I think. Or it could just be because I'm expecting more? The Baseboard manufacturer says ASUSTech Computer Inc; Baseboard product P7P55D-E...
