Here is my xml file, just copy it in your MP folder (0.2.3.0RC2).

Also, in the settings, dont forget to select 720x480 NTSC ITU-601 D1 for the frame size.
Then delete all your channels and rescan.

Hope it will work for you, like I said I use it since 3 weeks now and it's perfect.

Hi, I'm having athe same problem with most users. Initially I installed MP 2.2 but it doesn't detect my HVR-1600 so I remove MP and re-installed 0.2.30RC2 and it detect my HVR-1600, however it shows no signal detected. I tried fixing the capturecarddefinitions.xml file and still it doesn't work. When you change something in your capturecarddefinitions.xml do you need to run the setup.exe again and run the fix MP? or just re-scan the tv channel on autotune? Also, I read some thread where they are talking about difference in SVN. What is SVN? I only downloaded and installed MP. Are there other files that I need to install to get it working? Sorry, I'm too new with MP. Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for posting that. Unfortunately, no dice as of yet. I'm going to do a clean install tonight and use your .xml file from the getko.

Alright, here's my log - note, the errors that I'm getting:

2007-10-10 23:58:12.796834 [ERROR][6]: SinkGraphEx.SetupTeletext(): Failed to find WST Codec
2007-10-10 23:58:24.087127 [ERROR][6]: mpeg2:FAILED to render mpeg2demux video out:0x80040218

I saw a couple of other posts around the forums with people having black screens or no signal errors and the mpeg2demux error, but I did not find a definitive solution. Any thoughts?

EDIT - I fixed it... for some reason something I installed unregistered the MD Mpeg2 Demultiplexer!
(For completeness, I have also installed - GBPVR, and recently the Hauppauge 1600 package including wintv and the scheduler that came with the card).

If anyone else is having this problem (black screen, no signal detected...) and you have followed this thread, try this:

Click on the START button
Click on RUN
Type:

regsvr32 mpg2splt.axClick OK

(In vista, you can just enter that in the search bar).

works perfectly now.

Anyone with more knowledge know why this might have happened in the first place?

Ok, I got it running, finally! Thanks to everybody for helping. All I need to do now is figure out how to get the TVguide working. Any, ideas or any thread I can check regarding this? Canada is not on the list of countries for xmltv.

Anyway, I want to share what I did to get my HVR-1600 working. I installed the 0.2.30RC2 and then I followed the instruction from the threads.
1) I followed MrBungle67 advice and change capture to encoder under (NTSC) and change radio="false"
2) Then I followed AndrewH advice and delete this line <connection sourcefilter="capture" sourcepin="1" sinkfilter="encoder" sinkpin="1"/>
3) On my CaptureCardDefinition.xml I only have 2 models of HVR-1600, 74000070 & 74020070. I checked my device on device manager and I found out that my card is 74440070. Then I changed <capturecard commercialname="Hauppauge WinTV HVR1600 (NTSC)" capturename="Hauppauge WinTV 418 Video Capture" devid="ven_14f1&amp;dev_5b7a&amp;subsys_74000070&amp;rev_00">
to this <capturecard commercialname="Hauppauge WinTV HVR1600 (NTSC)" capturename="Hauppauge WinTV 418 Video Capture" devid="ven_14f1&amp;dev_5b7a&amp;subsys_7444000070&amp;rev_00">
4) Then I run Media portal TV setting and re-scan the channel and now it works.

I really dont understand, after installing a fresh version of MP, I had the 7444000070 version of this card directly in my xml file, I didn't have to add it or to modify an other one. The only point was replacing 'capture' by 'encoder'.

Anyway, you made it work!

Concerning the TV guide, I can advise you http://www.schedulesdirect.org/ , you pay $20 for a year. Everything is automatic, you create your lineup on the website, then just have to activate it in the plugins sections. After the TV guide is automaticaly updated.
This works only for US and Canada.

I went back to my CaptureCardDefinition.xml and you're right 7444000070 is there, it's at the very bottom. I did not see it the first time. The 2 hvr-1600 models are group together and the 7444000070 was probably added later at the bottom of the file. Anyway, I copied my original xml file and edit the correct 7444000070 Thanks for your help. I will now work on my TV guide, thanks for the info.

Just wanted to provide an update - I tried to bump up to the latest svn and my card stopped getting a signal, went back to RC2, and everything works fine. No idea what's different between the two.

Happy to help figure it out though.
