Hi sray,

At this point I decided to uninstall MP and reinstall using the latest SVN to see if there was a change between then and now. What I also realized was that I was not using an SVN from 3/21 but one from 3/20. Therefore, our installations were different. They must've added the HVR-1600 to the SVN on 3/21.

Anyway, after installing the most recent SVN I also experienced the same problem. I received the error "No Signal Detected". I reviewed the CardCaptureDefinitions.xml file and compared it with the code mentioned in an above thread. What I found was interesting. Their was an additional line, which after removing, cleared up the problem. The line I removed was this under the NTSC entries:

<connection sourcefilter="capture" sourcepin="1" sinkfilter="encoder" sinkpin="1"/>

I also changed radio=true to radio=false. The HVR-1600 does not come with a radio feature.

I attached a copy of the CardCaptureDefinitions.xml file so you can compare it to yours. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

I tried your fixes to the CardCaptureDefinitions.xml, and I still get black while auto tuning. I wonder if the factor of having Vista Business may be messing up the tv setup....

Hi Technec!
You are the man! I was able to get my card working using your xml file above. It is working with the latest SVN and the older ones as well.
I hope your changes get into the MP releases - it will save folks a lot of pain and certainly put this card on the supported list.

Thanks much again.

NB: I also discovered it is essential to use the following frame size in the card configuration in MP, "720x480 NTSC ITU-601 D1 (recommended)". This is not the default choice.

Tech-

I'm going to try what you did when I get home, I haven't had luck with my HVR-1600 yet. I believe your fix may do it.

Can you tell me if the error you were getting when you had "no signal detected" was "failed to connect Encoder->mpeg2 demux"

I've been having that trouble, and I'm wondering if it's trying to force some connection in the graph that shouldn't be forced. My other ideas were to install elecard's mpeg2 demuxer, or reinstall directx, both of which i haven't tried yet. I'll post back with my findings a little later.

Semag,

I hope that the fix helps. Unfortunately, I only received the no signal error. You might want to try a differenct codec for Television. I am using the MPV decoder. It seems to work the best.

Let me know what you find.

Unfortunately, it's a no go. Worth a try :)

I'm running into a really werid problem here. The Encoder provided by hauppauge is not connecting to the mpeg2 demultiplexer on Mediaportal boot up. I've tried everything I can think of.

The problem that really bugs me is that I can manually connect the two filters in graphedit when MP starts and get the video to work.... but it doesn't work by itself.

Hello. I have a HVR-900 (dvb-t/analog) and both shows in tve3, but when I configure the card as a hybrid, it says "unknown channel".
When I remove the card in the hybrid tab dvb-t works fine.
I have not tried the analog part yet. Earlier I had problems finding channels when I scanned.

Has anyone got the NTSC side to work yet? I'm having the same problem of black channels during autoscan. I gotta say, having to use the "other" free pvr program gets real old, real quick. Heh.

Yep, I'm using the NTSC side in MP. Others in this post had success as well. Follow the steps below if you want:
1. Do a fresh install of the latest SVN. I'm using 4-3-06 build.
2. Overwrite the Capturecarddefinitions.xml file with the one attached in this post earlier.
3. Run MediaPortal configuration.

You should be able to see audio/video during the scan and in My TV section.

Ps: I have found the NVidia PureVideo decoders to give the best performance...of course, I'm using a Nvidia card. So...

Thanks for the help! Unfortunately, it's not working. Still black during autoscan. I'm currently using the SVN from today, the 6th. The best decoder on my system, Cyberlink SP/Video Decoder, isn't helping, nor are the others. I have an NVIDIA 5200, but it doesn't come with PureVideo. I'll keep trying though, hopefully by the time the newest MP version is released, the 1600 will be officially supported.

:confused:

Oh, and does this have anything to do with anything?:

2007-04-06 18:20:07.843750 [ERROR][6]: SinkGraph:FAILED to connect Encoder->mpeg2 demuxer:80040217

It was in the error log.

I think 1.38 is easier, it's a minor addition, judging by the lack of bugs, 1.39 is still a long way off. Ideally, the TuningParameters settings would be moved to MPE1, along with all the skins. Then any minor fixes could be updated quickly.
