I've now tried this on another machine and get the same problem as well, the only thing common between them is they have ati cards, but not the same models.
Used the package from the first post and got Milkdrop up and running without any problem on a RC2 installation. I however had problems getting any of the modifications made in Milkdrop configuration page (within Mediaportal config) to work. It seemed like it always used the "default" settings.
Using the wininternals processexplorer I could se that mediaportal was looking for a "milk2.ini" file under:
C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\plugins
while the configuration page always saved the "milk2.ini" file under:
C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MusicPlayer\plugins\visualizations\winamp
So by copying the "milk2.ini" file to the correct path, my new settings made in milkdrop was correctly read. Maybe it would work by just doing a shortcut to the correct file, haven't tried that.
Don't know if this is common knowledge, something special with my installation or just a bug. Just wanted to let people know if somebodyelse had this problem
It did look strange to me as well, I created a another plugins directory under the "plugins" directory. I only did this because Mediaportal was trying to open the file here. I suspect it is either a bug or something completely wrong with my setup. In the latter case you can completely disregard my posts Question is if anybody else have problems editing the milkdrop configuration?
Got it working the first time, now if I want to trip out I can do it in front of the TV instead of the computer. I have an issue though, it doesnt work for my streaming radio stations. I keep those in the playlist folder of my music and just disabled my radio.
Can anyone that has this working ok post screengrabs of their milkdrop settings? Mine always crashes the first time I try to play any music but is then fine once I restart MP.
Ah well neither have I. I've left the settings all as the defaults and it crashes first time on all my clients. The only similar thing between my clients is they all have ATI graphics cards, but even then they're all different models. 1 is an x1300, 1 is an x1950 pro and the other is an x2400 XT.
