AW: How to install Mediaportal on Windows 2008 R2 (x64 only)

I got myself a nice sandy bridge based home server and did a fresh install of windows server 2008 R2, installed the BDA drivers, and now i'm not able to scan for channels.
This is NOT an MP/4TR problem, it's a problem with my config, but i can't figure out whats wrong, so i'm searching for help.
Attached are the logs from both 4TR and MP-TVE. It seems like the tuner can scan a channel and lock to it but then nothing happens. MP's log says that the PMT FFFFFFF (is subch:0 SetupPmtGrabber:pid FFFFFFFF sid:FFFFFFFF).
I've had this card running with my old server and windows 2008r2, so it should work.

Any clue what might be wrong ? i have disabled the soundcard as my server doesn't need sound, but that should not be a problem, right ?
I've tried the different bda drivers that are available on the net and i even installed windows 7 pro in a vm to get the right files, but the situation did not change.

Thanks

Joe

edit 2:
i'm now trying to add dvp-ip and i'm getting a pmt error too.

difficult to analyze, but PMT errors usually go with the unable to decrypt error...

also , there is a small bug in MP , which causes some channels to show up as Free to air, but there actually encrypted channels, then you get the PMT error also ...

also , try and disable the firewalls .. (yes all 3 of them) just to see what happens...

AW: How to install Mediaportal on Windows 2008 R2 (x64 only)

i finally got it to work and the problem was related to the tv card drivers. After disabling the need for signed drivers i was able to use the win7 drivers that are supplied by the ms driver update function in win7.
i'm now able to can for channels and record.
The only downside is that the system has to be started via F8 on every reboot and the need for signed drivers needs to be disabled. But since its a server and running 24/ 7 its not a real big problem. Maybe i'll figure out how to sign drivers myself.

    Thanks

well thats easy... start a administrator CMD box.. and type

    bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING ON

then reboot.. and you can run any unsigned stuff you need... I use it myself 2..

after reboot there will be a watermark from windows on the rightbottom side showing that you are in testmode..

    cheers

I'm running into trouble with installing MP on my W2008R2 server. The issue is that the TV Server list is totally empty. Unfortunatly I discovered the lack of W2008R2 support after I installed MP. I used a dutch blog (Ziggo Digitale TV op de PC met cardsharing - Zep en de Kunst van het Computeronderhoud) for cardsharing with a TV card, and run into trouble.

I hope someone can give me advice!

    Is it faster to:
    1) Remove the TV card, recover the system with a backup, then install BDA with MSI (or the batch script, which is more trustfull?), install the TV card and after that install MP
    OR
    2) Change a few files/settings to get it all sorted

I think the second step is less work, but I don't know which files/settings to change. Also I have some doubtfull points which I hope someone can clear:
    - Do I have to connect the signal cable for showing TV cards in MP?
    - The source files from Win7, do they have to be in my language (NL)? Does is have to be an english Win7 installation? (I used a NL Win7 & EN W2008R2)
    - I use Remote desktop (RDP) most of the times, does this interfere with some settings/installations or something else?

    Points which I tried:
    - I already tried to remove MP, remove the TV card (uninstall @ device manager), then try to use the MSI, install TV card again and after that the MP installation. This didn't help.
    - Disable firewall (the error log mentioned some network issues)
    - Multiple reboots
    - Disable TV Service (mentioned at: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...0/tv-serverlist-setup-blank-13621/#post101191)

    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,,

    - I use a Teratec Cinergy C PCI HD in combination with a Smargo USB Cardreader
    - I just viewed TV with the Terratec software (a Free-to-air signal, Nederland 1), so it should work, aight:mad:?

Can I check the database or MP installation somewhere? I know that the MySQL service is running. Maybe it's possible that other server roles interfere with MP?

Just wanted to report that new Windows Home Server (VAIL) build 7601 Release Candidate works out of the box with MediaPortal 1.1.2.0! VAIL = W2008 R2 as you already know.

Just got both up and running without any deeper setups. Only WHS Vail install with all drivers needed, then SQLexpress 2008 R2 64bit and last but not least MePo install in two parts. First just TV-server install and then TV-client install in the second run. Didn't try the single seat at all. Also didn't have to install any BDA or other fixes just basic BDA drivers for my DVB-T card.

    Short list what I did:
Get WHS Vail build 7601 and install it
Get all hardware drivers and install them
Get SQL express 2008 R2 64bit and install it (mixed mode and typed my own password for SA user)
Get MePo 1.1.2.0 and install it. I did it in two parts. First the TV-server and after that I installed TV-client. Remember the SQL SA password :)
    Do all necessary setups.

Yes, my WHS sits in the livingroom and is the only PC in the room. My personal preferred solution. The second PC sits in the bedroom and third is my laptop. Havent set them up yet for this new living room "bad boy" :)

    My hardware setup in short:
    Intel C2D E6850 CPU
    Asus mobo with 4Gb ram
    Seagate 500Gt 7200rpm 2,5" laptop HDD (TV-record and timeshift) + 2x 1GT WD caviar blacks for data & backup
Terratec Cinergy 2400i DVB-T dual tuner

Had almost same hardware setup with WHS vail 7600 build and it worked fine then. Haven't done a long term testing yet, but will report back in a few days. Seems to work fine. Easy to setup. Love it :)

the batchfile is the only way to go...
