    First try I installed the drivers for my two Hauppauge HVR-1600s from the Hauppauge website, which put them in the Device Manager. Then I installed MP TV-Server Only and saw only the DVB-IP and RadioWebStream in the list of cards. Neither of my hardware cards showed up.

    Uninstalled MP completely. Then ran the .msi alluded to on the first page. Reinstalled MP TV-Server only and now no cards show up at all in the TV-Server configuration.

    Then I uninstalled both cards in the Device Manager. Uninstalled MP completely again. Uninstalled the BDA msi completely. Then installed the BDA msi again and restarted. After restart I installed MP once more. Now I see the DVB-IP and RadioWebStream again but still no cards. The device manager shows the two cards as multimedia video controllers needing drivers.

    So then I decided to try option 2 and I got here:

    [*]Now again a very important part. Press ALT + R and type "%systemroot%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository"

    And that's where I'm stuck. What does Alt+R do? In notepad it doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a chance the command has a different keystroke between Europe and the US?

    my mistake.. it should be "windowskey+r".. which brings up the run box ...

    I did eventually figure out what the instructions were trying to say. After following the procedure, I was able to install and run TV-Server successfully. Thanks very much! I'm a happier man using Server 2008 R2, it's a much better server than Windows 7 (obviously).
    :D

    Hello boys,
    i need your help :)

    I'm using a Windows 2008 R2 Standard; i use it without some services like mediaplayer and so on.
    Like Mediaportal TV Server (not client, only server) i have another pc, with windows xp and 3 tuner;

    Now i would like to remove 1 server, and use only windows 2008 server.

    I have 2 possibilities
    1) use this guide and modify windows 2008 server for use mediaportal server
    2) use hyper-v and virtualize windows xp.

    I prefer the second one because i leave windows 2008 clean (is 24@24 server, behind ups with raid5 hd which contain important data).

    But i don't know if with hyper-v i can use the tv card...

    Any suggestion?
    Thank you a lot

    Khael

    Thanks for your help;
    probably only possiblity is to use usb tuner...

    hyper-v doesn't support usb in vms - you'd have to use other virtualizytion solution for that - but there is another problem I encountered during my tests: the VM has a bad realtime ability - check it out with dplatency checker - I ended up fter some experiments with a separate tv server, that sleeps, if it's not used (S3)...

    Hey Khael, I've very happily running Server 2008 with Hyper-V - the only option that worked for me (after exploration of USB tuners, XenServer and VMware) was to run Hyper-v with TV Server in the host O/S then run Hyper-v for other (non-MP) client machines). It's been running nicely for months.
