    after that you install the drivers for your card... before that was impossible :D

    Uhmm... you are correct if you're talking about the FloppyDTV card (which dead on me for some strange reason 2 weeks ago), but before i did all this and installed the new Card this evening, i could (and have) installed the drivers for the card.
    But... to be sure ;) i'll just do it again and let you know!

    ** EDIT **

    Just installed TV Card drivers again, nothing shows up in Device Manager :'(

    Hello,
    I'm new to MediaPortal. I followed instructions on the first post and installed media portal 1.2.1 final yesterday. I had MySQL 5.1.59 already installed on my computer. But the installation went OK. Then, I added OnlineVideo plugins. But whenever I opened YouTube, I got "Unable to play video" error. So I thought I might be missing codecs. So I installed SAF6 saf600_111006. Then, when I went to media portal configuration, all video codec options went blank. I thought that it's due to conflicting codecs and ran filmerit and removed the error entry. But it did not resolve missing any codecs options in config. So I tried uninstalling everything tv server/client (except mysql) and re-installed. But during tv server install, setupTV.exe crashed, but installation said complete. Now, every time, i open tv server configuration, windows says setupTV.exe has stopped working, and quit. I took a look at tv log and all I saw was

    2011-10-07 16:40:10.855468 [SetupTv(1)]: ---- SetupTv v1.2.1.0 is starting up on Windows 2008 R2 ( Service Pack 1 ) [6.1.7601.65536]

    There's nothing after that. I think that database was not configured correctly (because setupTV.exe crashed during installation.)

    Now, I have tried removing/installing it again and again (totally removing everything e.g cleanup/MySQL, removing data folders in c:\Program Data folder). I also tried MP 1.1.3 installation. They all got setupTV.exe crash error during installation. I cannot do system restore for some reason (I think 2008 r2 did not allow it or something.)

    I have looked for solutions in the forum.

    I tried
    1) editing host file localhost -> 127.0.0.1
    2) rename setupTV.exe.config -> setupTV.config and TVService.exe.config -> TVService.config
    3) also changed MySQL password in gentle.config

    Can anyone please give me pointer to where else to look?

    Thank you all in advance.

    mysql problem .. just remove everything..
    after uninstall remove all mysql folders manually
    and start cleanly.. mysql will be properly setup for MP..

Then i let mp installer to download it again. I will repeated this again, and will let u know. Thanks for getting bk to me. I appreciate it. Also, is there a way to run setupTV.exe in debug mode? Thanks.

    I actually always run the installer twice in "advanced mode"

    First I install TVSERVER only option .. and when everything is running..
    I run the installer again and select "advanced mode" again and select mediaportal client only..

    ofcourse.. on seperate clients i Run "advanced mode" and only install the MP client :D

    good luck m8

    I have repeated uninstall/reinstall. But I still got the same issue.

    1) Uninstalled MP TV/client with cleanup option.
    2) Uninstalled MySQL.
    3) Uninstalled Microsoft Visual C++ 2010.
    3) Remove MySQL folders from c:\program files and c:\program data.
    4) I went into registry (regedit) and deleted all MySQL instances.
    5) I also deleted MediaPortal/TVService/setupTV registry entries.
    6) I restarted my computer.
    7) I downloaded MP installer (1.2.1 FINAL).
    8) I installed MP with only TV server option.
    9) It installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010.
    10) It downloaded/installed MySQL 5.1.39.
    11) It installed TV server.
    12) I saw "setupTV.exe has stopped working" error.
    13) It completed installation.

    is your windows2008 box connected to the internet ?

    did you follow my complete manual ? and execute this part also ?

    Go to control panel , and find useraccounts, then disable the accountcontrol (set slider to bottom) and reboot

    before you installed MP ?
