Indeed, i was very happy when i noticed that thingy on their website!

I just updated my CAM to v3.23 All seems to work great! 'Zapping' speeds also improved, tuning works directly and the best thing: No more PES errors in my TsReader.log!

Now it's time to test recordings and give you your thread back.

I've got the Alphcrypt Classic (with latest FW ) and yes, got Ziggo TV.

Just had an MP crash while i was watching a TV recording. frooze up the whole system, so it looks like i've got a faulty HDD that's causing the recording issues. 2b continued...

v3.23 is the latest, although i don't think that the last few updates are interesting for DVB-C users.

-Conax: Eingabe der PIN im TC Modul korrigiert (war nur mit extern gesteckter Smartkarte möglich)
-Conax: einige wenige Kanäle wurden zeitweise nicht entschlüsselt (je nach Länge und Anordnung der auszuwertenden Zugangsinformationen von der Smartkarte), Problem beseitigt
-Canal Digital Ton-Problem nach Umschalten beseitigt (trat zeitweise auf verschiedenen Sendern auf)
-interne Korrekturen und Optimierungen (keine sichtbaren Auswirkungen)

V3.23 vom 15.3.2011
-Kommunikationsproblem mit ORF-ICE Smartkarten trat wieder auf, so wie vor V3.20 (kurzer Bildausfall nach einigen Stunden). Die Anpassung aus V3.20 war in V3.21-V3.22 nicht mehr aktiviert, das Problem ist behoben.
-Menupunkt 'IC-Karten Priorität' im Expertenmenu hinzugefügt. Hier kann eingestellt werden, ob die Cryptoworks-ICE Smartkarten im CA-System Cryptoworks oder im stabileren I-Code Modus betrieben werden (letzteres ist voreingestellt). Achtung, die Berechtigungsanzeige wird bei beiden Systemen unterschiedlich dargestellt (im I-Code Modus nicht detailliert). Dies kann momentan nicht verbessert werden.
-Störung im Unitymedia Kabelnetz auf Pro7 DD-Ton beseitigt, es betraf nur diesen Kanal (speziell die PID 0x222), die Ursache lag in der zyklischen Abfrage dieser PID auf Softwareaktalisierung.
-Langzeitstabilitätsproblem in der CI-Kommunikation konnte nachvollzogen und beseitigt werden. Das Problem konnte im Bereich ab 15 Stunden bis zu mehreren Tagen auftreten, auch mit älteren Softwareversionen kann dieses Problem auftreten, daher wird von nun an für den Betrieb mit Kopfstationen empfohlen, mindestens diese V3.23 zu verwenden.
-Nach Auswahl des Software-Updates blieb die Anzeige manchmal bei 'Vorgang in Arbeit' stehen, das konnte nur durch wiederholtes Aufrufen verlassen werden. Das Problem ist nun beseitigt.
-Aktivierung der internen PMT-Suche ist nun schneller und stabiler. Die entprechende Einstellung 'Erzwinge Lesen der origiginalen PMT' sollte aber trotzdem nur auf EIN- oder auf AUTO eingestellt werden, wenn der eingestellte Service unvollständig oder garnicht entschlüsselt wird. Die Umschaltzeiten werden durch diese Einstellung naturgemäß langsamer gegenüber dem AUSgeschalteten Zustand. Daher ist für Set-Top-Boxen weiterhin die empfohlene Einstellung = AUS.

since people here are well versed in win server 2008/r2 i was wondering if this is the way to go for a NAS? is a very basic low power solution the way to go with windows server? or would win 7 be enough?

2008 r2 certainly has more capabilities in sharing your files then windows7... although it is possible with win7 aswell ..

its all a matter of what exactly you want to do with it.. its very difficult to answer your question since your needs are unclear to me.

Personally i tried to combine everything in 1 system that is running 24/7 to save power.
first i had a seperate small business server for email etc.
and a seperate tvserver for streaming television to clients (and as fileshare).
and also a workstation to work on ..

With windows2008r2 I managed to have a physical OS with tvserver on it..
And with hyper-v on the 2008 r2 box I have a virtual SBS 2011 running and several virtual workstations.
I connect to the virtual machines from the 2008 r2 machine with remote desktop protocol and i have everything in one machine.
no more clutter

i actually dont think its needed , besides the (in my view , stupid) metro interface there is no difference with windows7 (accept some extra icons in my computer, and the fast bootup).
so win8 should support BDA out of the box anway, i did an install of win8 on a vm , but deleted it after 15 mins since the metro interface is only usefull if you have a touchscreen available, so didnt try MP
