Good news! I got it working on 2008 R2 now.

- Restart the computer and during startup, press F8.
- Select Advanced Boot Options.
- Select Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.

Now download eHome.zip from Convert your Windows Server 2008 R2 to a Workstation! - eHome IR Transceiver
install driver following instruction there.

After reboot, I went to MediaPortal Config and chose MCE remote. Most keys are working in MP now.

But I still got a few issues.

- test mode appears on the lower right screen.
- a few buttons still do not work.

I will need to play around more.

Update - now test mode disappears.

I use this to remove it.

Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.3b

Anyone had any success with mce remote on windows 2008 r2 ? Got it to work partially in MediaPortal but can't start it with MPTray and most of the buttons (Videos, Recorded tv...) aren't working ?

Tried even EventGhost but unsuccessfully.

Has anyone gotten this working with HVR-2250 and Server 2008r2?

I can't get Aero to turn on. I have the desktop experience and the Themes service on, but I can't choose Aero.

    Hello everyone,
I have made a complete rewrite of the bdaforserver files. The installation now works automatically and for any language version of Windows Server 2008 R2.

    Just scroll down to download:

Hope this helps someone out there.

Would be happy to hear from you,

Hi guys, hope you can give a bit of advice here

I'm a long time user of MP on my main PC. Anyway, bit the bullet and bought a tidy HP N40L miniserver to become my dedi HTPC

Server 2008 R2, all installed good, Ran the BDA bat files pulling the files off my Win7 64 laptop and installing them on my R2 box. Also ran the tool from win2008workstation to double check... Also enabled Aero etc etc

Installed a nice HD 6450 gfx card with latest drivers, along with MPC-HC and latest rev of Sharkys codecs - all good

SQL Express 2008 installed all good, as did the dependencies for MP and MP itself, used SSMS to check the db created, all okay so far

Bought a hauppauge USB TD dual DVB-T tuner and downloaded the latest Win7 drivers for it from their website - all signed, all installed okay.

Added the 2 cards in TV Config, plugged the dongle into my aerial booster, channel scan went well on both devices, and TV Guide is all populated

However - now the issue - I try to watch TV and nothing appears to happen. MP appears frozen but it's not showing as "not responding" in taskmgr

Anyone got any obvious things I've missed, or to check for?

PS: I fired up a stream manually, and connecetd to it from my other PC using VLC - connection and display worked fine

    Thanks in advance

thinking of upgrading my server to win2k13 though ;)

it wasnt that stable, 4 firewire cards interlinked... sometimes one failed... or when 3 where in use, MP could lock up , never could find the cause, but , it seems to be floppydtv related since i dont have any problems now with the new stuff when there are 4 channels in use, pcie is better then firewire :D

just got tired of firewire troubles.. :D.
Also , i dont need a card repeater to duplicate my smartcard to all tuners.(hmm .. that could be the cause aswell , its wireless)
just one card for 4 tuners is a way better solution , all the heat from 4 tuners on firewire is gone now..

i wanted to try that too .. but that will be next month ... on windows 2012 server..
